Was glad I went up in the lift, wasn't sure if I was supposed to go down in the lift but I walked the stairs, liked that my ticket did get me in all places as a lot of people couldn't access all areas. Not a Headout issue but left my hat and water bottle on a seat and returned 5 mins later and someone had taken them and they didn't hand them in to lost and found. Thought that was a bit awful as we were viewing a church!!!

Wir haben den Mailänder Dom an einem Samstagnachmittag besucht. Trotz der vielen Touristen mussten wir gar nicht so lange warten. Die Treppen nach oben waren viel weniger anstrengend als erwartet. Der Ausblick über Mailand ist einfach wunderschön und absolut lohnenswert. Außerdem konnte man alles ganz entspannt besichtigen und hatte genügend Zeit, um Fotos zu machen. Ein echtes Highlight unseres Mailand-Besuchs!

The Duomo is incredible and has so many stories to tell. This is a must see in Milan. Our guide was so knowledgeable and easily communicated the history and facts of the Duomo, along with wonderful stories. Visited on a hot day, but in the morning, still being on the terraces is well worth the heat for spectacular views and a close up of the intricate skulpting of the spires.

Es war toll auf dem Dach des Mailänder Doms die ganzen Türme zu bestaunen. Der Zugang zu den Dachterassen ging schnell und bequem per Lift.

Getting started

Your visit begins at the entrance of the Milan Cathedral. Simply present your ticket at the access point—no guide required. Depending on your ticket, you can enter the cathedral, the museum, and head up to the terraces via lift or stairs.

What to expect

The Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano) is the third-largest church in the world and a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. This ticket gives you access to the cathedral’s interiors, the Cathedral Museum, and the rooftop terraces for a complete experience.

Cathedral interior: Step inside to admire soaring columns, thousands of statues, and vibrant stained glass windows that narrate biblical stories in vivid color. The pink Candoglia marble façade is equally stunning up close.

Cathedral Museum: Explore centuries of history through liturgical objects, sculptures, and tapestries that reveal the craftsmanship and evolution behind the Duomo.

Terrace access: Head up to the terraces via stairs or lift (based on your selected option). From the rooftop—the largest walkable Gothic roof in the world—you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Milan’s skyline and, on a clear day, even the distant Alps.

What to bring

Photo ID may be required for ticket validation at entry.

What’s not allowed

Flash photography, tripods, food, drinks, and large bags.

Prohibited items include prams, helmets, glass items, knives, flowers, drones, musical instruments, masks, luggage, and high heels.

Strict dress code applies: shoulders and knees must be covered; sandals, headgear, and sunglasses are not permitted.

Pets are not allowed; registered guide dogs are permitted.

Accessibility

Wheelchair access is available up to the first terrace level only, with limited access to the back choir area.

Descent from the terraces requires stairs.

Not pram accessible; only foldable strollers are allowed.

No pets allowed except for guide dogs with proper certification

Additional information

Duomo Museum and Church of San Gottardo are closed on Wednesdays.

Last entry to the terraces is at 6:10pm.

Tickets are valid for 72 hours from first validation, with one-time entry per area.
