Went with my boyfriend for a day trip to Chefchaouen and honestly, it was pretty EPIC. The driver (Abdullah I think?) was super chill and got us there safely. The city is soooo photogenic, but, heads up, some of the locals do NOT want pics taken in certain alleys. We got gently told off once, oops. Weather was perfect, bit crowded near the main square but if you wander off you’ll find quiet corners. The only downside was we felt a bit rushed at lunch, wish we had more time to just wander. Still, 100% worth it for the blue walls alone.

Chefchaouen is like a dream in blue! Did the trip solo and at first was kinda nervous but turns out the guide (Mustafa) was hilarious and had SO many stories. The car was comfy, had strong AC (lifesaver). Not gonna lie, there’s a lot of stairs, so wear comfy shoes. Got mint tea at a tiny cafe with goats wandering around outside, which was random and cool. Met another couple from Germany, we all got lost together for a bit and laughed about it. Would totally do it again!

We did a group tour, 6 of us plus the driver. Our guide, Aziz, was super friendly and had great recommendations for lunch (try the tagine at Cafe Sofia!). The road is pretty twisty, so if you get carsick, pack some meds. Chefchaouen itself is GORGEOUS—so much blue. Only thing, we felt a bit rushed at the waterfall stop, could’ve stayed longer. Still, def worth it for the photos and vibes.

Family trip w/ 2 kids. The city was beautiful but honestly it was pretty crowded and my youngest got cranky fast. The guide was nice, but we didn’t get as much history as I hoped. The car ride is LONG – bring snacks, trust me. Highlight: seeing cats everywhere (my daughter counted 27). Would go again but maybe not with little ones.

Our little family of 4 did the Chefchaouen trip and it was really lovely. The blue alleys are as magical as they say, but my kids mostly wanted to pet all the street cats. The driver (Hassan) was so patient with all our questions. Only thing – lunch was a bit slow and we had to rush the last museum visit. Still, a good memory!
  • Swap the Mediterranean coast for the mystical mountain air of Chefchaouen on this seamless private escape.

    Getting started

Whether you are staying in Tangier or arriving fresh off the ferry, your driver will be waiting at your hotel or the port terminal. The drive south is a highlight in itself; you’ll climb into the Rif Mountains, passing through traditional villages and overlooking the stunning Nakhla Lake. The air cools as you ascend, and the vibrant Mediterranean landscape gives way to the dramatic peaks that surround the Blue City.

    What to expect

As you step out into Chefchaouen, the city’s famous blue-washed walls create a serene, dreamlike atmosphere. You’ll have roughly 5 hours to dive into the heart of the Medina. Visit the 15th-century Kasbah, explore the Ethnographic Museum, or simply lose yourself in the winding, sapphire-colored lanes. For the best view in town, take a short 15-minute walk to the Spanish Mosque for a panoramic look at the city nestled in the valley.

Anxious about the long drive or ferry schedules? This private tour is designed for punctuality and comfort. Your driver handles the mountain curves with expertise, ensuring you arrive back in Tangier refreshed and in plenty of time for your evening plans or departure.

    Features

    • Direct port pickup makes this the ideal choice for travelers on a tight ferry or cruise schedule.

    • Discover "The Blue Pearl" at your own speed with zero pressure to follow a rigid group itinerary.

    • Capture stunning photos of Nakhla Lake and the Rif Mountains during dedicated scenic photo stops.

    • Travel in a modern, climate-controlled Mercedes or similar vehicle for a smooth, high-end experience.

  • What to bring

    • Motion sickness medication: The road through the Rif Mountains is famously winding. Even if you don't usually get carsick, travelers frequently recommend having some on hand.

    • Comfortable walking shoes with grip: Chefchaouen is built on a hill with smooth, slippery blue stones. You will be walking uphill for most of the morning.

    • Small change (Dirhams): While the transport is paid, you'll need 5–10 DH for public restrooms and small tips for photos with locals or at the Kasbah.

    • Portable power bank: Between the mountain scenery and the blue streets, your phone battery will drain quickly.

    What’s not allowed

    • Pets are not allowed on this experience.

    • These are private cars, not buses. Please limit luggage to one small daypack per person to ensure a comfortable ride.

    • Morocco has strict laws regarding drones; they will be confiscated at the border or by local authorities if flown without a permit.

    • For private tours, the driver will wait up to 20 minutes at your Riad. Beyond that, it may impact your time in the Blue City as the return leg must start on time to avoid night driving.

    Accessibility

    • Chefchaouen is not wheelchair friendly due to hundreds of stairs and steep inclines. However, Jeff Transport uses modern minivans that are easy to board for seniors.

    • A baby carrier is recommended over a stroller. Navigating the narrow, stepped alleys of the Medina with wheels is extremely difficult.

    • Because this is a private tour, you can ask the driver to stop whenever you need a stretch or a break—perfect for elderly travelers.

    Additional information

    • Be prepared for a long journey, with about 4 hours of travel each way between Fez and Chefchaouen.

    • Tours run rain or shine. In winter (Nov–Mar), Chefchaouen is much colder than Fez or Tangier; bring a heavy jacket.

    • Your driver is your logistics expert, but is not legally allowed to walk you through the Medina as a guide. They will drop you at the most central point.

    • Most "hidden" photo spots in the Medina are actually residents' doorsteps. Some homeowners charge a small fee (5 MAD) to take a photo there.

  • Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly. Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point. Please check your final voucher for the starting point details & specific instructions.
