We went to visit Cape sounion & the Temple of Poseidon. Our guide Alice showed us where the bus was and during the bus drive she enthusiastically gave us clear information about the day. Everything was clear and organised! For the Temple you need to pay an entrance fee you can search it up online how much that will be for you. Overall a good experience.

Esperienza interessante. Tutto si è svolto in maniera puntuale; avevamo un'audio guida nella nostra lingua e un'accompagnatrice che parlava in inglese e ogni tanto dava altre informazioni. Tour puntualissimo. La guida sull'autobus parlava inglese ma era molto comprensibile. Viaggio lungo la costa davvero molto bello. Forse l'autista correva un po' troppo ma non ci sono stati problemi.

Unser Ausflug war sehr schön. Der Audioguide, den wir auf den Hinfahrt erhalten haben, war interessant, aber auch relativ dürftig. Gps tracking für den guide ist eine nette Idee, aber dadurch sind einige Tracks gesprungen. Es gab keine Möglichkeit manuell etwas anzuhören. Kap Sounion und der Tempel waren wunderschön. Wir hatten hervorragendes Wetter und konnten den Sonnenuntergang beobachten, bevor es wieder zurück in den Bus ging. Am Tag unseres Trips waren in Athen Demonstrationen, weswegen die Innenstadt gesperrt war. Die Informationen, wie sich die Abholung gestaltet, war etwas schwierig zu bekommen. Aktiv hat uns headout keine Info geliefert, wir mussten selbst auf die Suche gehen und den eigentlichen Anbieter kontaktieren.

Quick trip, with stops to have excellent views of the temple. Also the time we were allotted inside was enough to get good pictures and know the place. The sunset is truly amazing.

The guide Dido (hopefully I wrote it correctly) was great. The audio guide works on GPS - it starts an interesting story and then just switches to another and you cannot hear the ending. In general, the tour is great for lazy afternoon in the city, if you don't want to plan anything yourself. Everything is taken care of. And the view of the temple is great even without buying the entering tickets.

Your tour will begin at the Halandri Metro station in Athens. You will meet your tour guide aboard the air-conditioned tour bus. You will reach the cape just in time to catch the enchanting sunset. Your guide will tell you several intriguing facts and myths about Cape Sounion. It’s interesting to note that Sounion is also mentioned in Homer’s legendary epic, The Odyssey.

The Temple of Poseidon was a popular destination for famous poets and writers from across the world. The English poet Lord Byron is said to have left his signature on the temple marble nearly two centuries ago. Once you are done exploring the temple, spend a few tranquil moments on the coast, watching the sun disappear below the horizon. On your way back, you can visit the Athens Riviera and walk along the promenade. Several of the charming waterfront cafes are certainly worth a visit.

The entrance fee to archeological sites is NOT included with the ticket price. It costs 10 EUR to enter the archaeological site of Sounion.

EU citizens under the age of 25 and non-EU citizens under 5, enjoy free entry!

Wear comfortable walking shoes. A hat might be a useful accessory as well, especially in summer.
