The guide was ok and provided good information. But the following issues were not satisfactory: - Pick-up time changed twice on very short notice that caused stress in the morning. - First stop was the work shop for the Agent Orange victims. It was ok, but we spent too much time when they tried to sell the goods. So we were late at the chu chi tunnels, that were overcrowded and caused a lot of waiting time. - Spent too much time at the shooting range. 2/3 of the group had to wait more than 30 minutes in the loud environnent without any activity. - Tour to Unicorn Island was just a sales tour: bee farm where they tried to sell honey, candy shop that was just for selling things as well - Best part: tour with small boat - Bus driver was driving recklessly. We didn't feel comfortable in the bus.

The tour guide was excellent. He knew his stuff, was entertaining and generally kept the tour running smoothly. I would probably be nervous about using headout to book tours though. I would stick to local companies. I had issues from day one with the app not working, lack of confirmation of the booking, no tickets ever being issued etc, so I wasucky that the tour guide accepted me. Headout did respond, but always too late as they are based in Europe, and I was in Asia.

Epic day out—our guide Tom was hilarious and really knew his stuff. The tunnels were the highlight for me, but honestly the whole thing was just well organised. Delicious lunch too! Gonna recommend to my mates.

Getting started

Get picked up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and settle in for a 90-minute drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels’ Ben Dinh site.

Cu Chi Tunnels

Start with a short film that introduces the tunnel network and its role during the Vietnam War. Then, explore the preserved underground maze—complete with living quarters, field hospitals, weapons storage, and booby traps once used by the Viet Cong. Wrap up your visit with a tasting of cassava and tea, a staple for soldiers who lived here during the war.

Lunch break

Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant before heading south toward the Mekong Delta.

Mekong Delta exploration

Cruise along the Tien River, passing Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise Islands. Visit a coconut candy workshop, enjoy seasonal fruits and honey tea, and learn about Delta life. Take a rowing boat through narrow canals and hop on a short village bike ride to see daily rural life up close.

Folk music & return

Wind down with a live performance of Southern Vietnamese folk music before making your way back to Ho Chi Minh City.

What to bring

Wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain is rugged, and bring sunglasses, insect repellent, and a sun hat.

Bring small bags or backpacks, as large items may hinder movement through the tunnels.

What’s not allowed

Smoking is not allowed inside the tunnels.

Accessibility

The experience is not wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible.

This experience is not suitable for guests with mobility issues and claustrophobia as the terrain is uneven and the tunnels are very narrow.

The pickup time for this tour is between 6:30am to 6:45 am.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
