On entre la première "porte" et wow! On entre dans une ville médievale. On marche dans cette ville par la rue indiquée et on se rend à l'entrée du Château et ses remparts. C'est comme dans les films! Fantastique. Pour les remparts, il y a beaucoup de marches mais ça en vaut le coup. Nous avons passé 3 heures à cette visite inoubliable.

Es un lugar de ensueño, suspendido en el pasado. Te sientes inmerso en la edad media. Las murallas te ofrecen una perspectiva de 360 grados del entorno. Y todo está muy bien conservado. Es el castillo medieval más grande que he visitado

Het hele kasteel en de vestingmuren zijn geweldig en een bezoek waard. Vooral de beeld presentatie op de eerste was prachtig en bijzonder interessant. Nog nergens gezien en wij reizen over de hele wereld.

carsaconne is magnificent. if you are in toulouse or anywhere near. it's a must see. there are quite a few places to eat inside the walls which was also very nice to do

Getting tickets beforhand was a good idea, the entry was smooth & we got an audio guide which made our journey round the castle so interesting. The castle is stunning, so beautiful & its history just awesome, the audio guide relates it so so well.

El castillo super bonito y los videos y las exposiciones muy bien e interesantes. Como punto de mejora y atención , los baños del recinto estaban muy sucios , siendo los únicos que hay en el recinto, es necesario mejorar la limpieza y la instalación.

Present you mobile ticket at Carcassonne Castle’s main entrance and breeze past the queues. For the walking tour, use your smartphone and headphones to access the audio guide (downloading it in advance is recommended) and explore at your own pace.

What to expect

This experience combines direct entry to the castle and ramparts with an in-depth walking tour of the city. Use the audio guide to move between 19 narrated stops, from defensive towers to hidden alleys, while uncovering the myths, history, and architecture that define Carcassonne.

What’s not allowed

Pets are not permitted, except for service animals.

Smoking is prohibited inside the castle.

Scooters, bicycles, helmets, non-folding strollers, and bulky luggage are not permitted inside the Château Comtal or along the ramparts.

This experience may not be fully accessible for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.

Additional information

Entry is free for disabled guests with an accompanying adult, jobseekers (on presentation of a certificate less than 6 months old), and holders of a valid education pass or culture pass.

Carcassonne Castle offers free admission on select days, including the European Heritage Days on 20 & 21 September 2025, and on the first Sunday of January, February, March, November, and December.

To avoid large crowds at the entrance, it is recommended to arrive 1 hour after the monument opens.

The museum will remain closed for safety reasons.
