I was amazed by the impressive collection of masterpieces at the Albertina Museum in Vienna. However, the exhibition devoted to paper fascinated me the most – it was truly unique, engaging, and deeply inspiring.

Combo tickets give you access to two of the most interesting museums in Europe. The Impressionists collection in Albertina is amazing. I was happy to experience Marina's Abramović retrospective in Albertina Modern too. Just blown away !

  • Just a short trip from Vienna, the Albertina Klosterneuburg presents post-1945 abstract and conceptual works in a centuries-old monastery setting that feels both peaceful and powerfully modern.

    Getting started

Albertina Klosterneuburg is located in the historic Monastery of Klosterneuburg, about 25 minutes from central Vienna. You can easily reach it by car, bus, or train from Wien Heiligenstadt station. The museum entrance is clearly signposted within the monastery complex.

Once inside, you’ll find a spacious, minimalist interior designed to contrast beautifully with the ornate Baroque architecture that surrounds it. Free lockers are available near the entrance, and friendly staff can guide you through the day’s exhibitions or seasonal showcases from the Albertina Collection.

    Where history meets contemporary vision

Inside, the galleries unfold like a dialogue between past and present. Stark white walls and natural light create an atmosphere that amplifies the power of each piece, whether it’s bold gestural abstraction or quiet conceptual minimalism.

Here, you’ll find works by Austria’s post-war pioneers, artists who redefined how art could reflect identity, politics, and emotion in a rapidly changing world. The exhibitions rotate seasonally, so each visit offers a new perspective drawn from the vast holdings of the Albertina Collection.

    The art of reflection

The setting itself is part of the experience. Between exhibits, you can step into the monastery’s courtyards or cloisters, where silence and history offer space to pause and think.

    Extend your Albertina journey

Your ticket is valid for one year, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace. After visiting Klosterneuburg, continue your art journey in Vienna at the Albertina Museum and Albertina Modern. Together, the three museums trace the evolution of art, from the delicate lines of Dürer and the brushwork of Monet to the bold experimentation of Warhol, Lassnig, and beyond.
