Monet's garden was spectacular. Beautiful gardens and perinnial borders bursting with colour in every direction. A feast for the heart and soul. It was the highlight of my 3 week holiday in Paris. It was an easy walk to see the whole garden. The water lily pond was a vision of light shimmering on the water around the lilies. It was just like Monet's paintings. Even though there was a wait to see the house, the queue moved quickly and was well worth the short wait. There were good restaurants nearby that were a reasonably priced. Worth every dollar. Monet's garden was stunning. So many beautiful flowers, gorgeously maintained and curated around his home and the river. It was busy but easy to get around and see everything. We found a lovely spot in the town of Giverney for some lunch and a pichet of local wine. A truely wonderful day for all ages🌸

The atmosphere on site was pleasant, the only pity being that a small guide of a few pages illustrated with the names of the flowers was not sold at the entrance. It would educate amateurs. But we're afraid it might slow down the flow of visitors. To be studied.

I loved how light the crowd was! I loved the beauty of the ponds and paths and garden and the house. We wish we could have stayed for days! My mother was a landscape designer with a specialty in aquatic gardens and so it made me feel closer to her memory. And the weather could not have been better. I also loved how undeveloped the land was around Giverny - that you could look out to a pasture with cows and a stream. A truly unspoiled place. It was such a welcome respite (and delightful train ride) from the sweaty, bustling, expense of Paris! I had longed to see Giverny ever since taking an Art History class in college and also selling many copies of the book Linnea in Monet's Garden when I worked in a bookstore in Venice, CA (as well as introducing it to children in my children's school library). Monet's House and Garden at Giverny was one of the best things my daughter, Anna (20), and I did during this too-brief 2 week trip to Europe from Malibu, CA. Thank you for your amazing stewardship of this historic place of artistic inspiration.
