We would absolutely recommend purchasing the Headout Mount Etna Cable Car FAST TRACK tickets. We purchased them and were able to walk past all of the folks at the ticket window AND probably another 45 minutes to an hour's worth of people waiting in the cable car line. One lady in the long line actually asked us where we bought the FAST TRACK tickets and we mentioned HEADOUT. Kudos to you for making this adventure even more enjoyable.

The tour was good, few more people than we expected, the knowledge was excellent, and answered all my strange questions. The early morning tour meant the staff were still getting ready, so knowing where to go needed asking, but staff were friendly and happy to answer.

Begin your journey at the Funivia dell’Etna station at Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza (Etna South). Show your online ticket for fast-track boarding and step into the cable car for a smooth ascent to the upper station.

What to expect

Mount Etna cable car

Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano, rises from the Sicilian landscape and is famed for its craters and dramatic volcanic cones. The cable car brings you to 2,500m, where you’ll witness sweeping views and the unique terrain shaped by centuries of eruptions.

Features

Panoramic cable car ride: Glide from 1,923m to 2,500m, enjoying aerial views of Etna’s craters and over 100km of Sicilian coastline.

Upper station terrace: Step onto volcanic sands and admire the summit craters on one side and the sea on the other.

Upgrades: Take the 4x4 ride and ascend to 3000 m to enjoy views of the Bocca Nuova and Voragine craters.

What to bring

Wear a windbreaker jacket and hiking shoes.

Bring a valid photo ID matching the name on your booking.

What’s not allowed

Large luggage, suitcases, and oversized bags are not allowed on the cable car or tour vehicles.

Drones are not permitted anywhere on the premises.

The experience is not recommended for people with heart or respiratory conditions, high blood pressure, or for pregnant women.

Accessibility

This experience is not accessible to wheelchair users.

The service operates daily from 8:30am to 4pm (last descent at 3:50pm), subject to weather or technical conditions.

Dogs are allowed if kept on a leash and with a muzzle at all times.

You can rent windbreakers, boots, and poles at the 2,500m station if you do not have suitable clothing.

Please arrive at the meeting point 15 mins before the scheduled time of your tour to avoid any delays.
