I visited Bioparc Valencia last month with my family and we were absolutely blown away. This isn’t your typical zoo with animals behind bars – they’ve created these incredible habitats where you almost forget there are barriers at all. The design is really something special. The African savanna section was my favorite. Watching the elephants interact with each other while giraffes wandered in the background felt so authentic. My kids were glued to the glass watching the lions lounging in the sun. The Madagascar area was also fantastic – those lemurs are hilarious and so active! What I really appreciated was how well the animals seemed to be cared for. The enclosures are spacious and designed to mimic their natural environments. You can tell a lot of thought went into creating spaces where the animals actually thrive, not just survive. The walkthrough areas are great too. We spent ages in the cave section watching the bats and other nocturnal creatures. It’s educational without being preachy – perfect for keeping kids engaged. A few tips: go early in the morning when the animals are most active, bring good walking shoes because there’s quite a bit of ground to cover, and don’t skip the gorilla habitat. Seriously impressive. The only downside was that it got pretty crowded by midday, and some of the pathways felt a bit congested. Food options were decent but a little pricey – might be worth packing some snacks. Overall, highly recommend! It’s one of the best zoos I’ve visited in Europe. Worth every euro.
