Nice musical. But I didn’t get to see Ben Platt act, which was a real let-down. The understudy was good, just not brilliant.
What a powerful performance. You will instantly fall in love with Ben Platt. Such a strong storyline, a lot of drama packed into it and brilliant casting. Be sure to catch the show when Ben Platt is performing though, he really breathes life into the character. I’ve seen many musicals before, but this one was just so relatable, as a teenager.
I will admit that this show is not what most people would enjoy. The plot is just a tad bit darker than the rest out there, which basically involves unicorns farting rainbows. This musical touches upon really serious issues that teenagers go through at that age, the social pressures and ethical values that they pick up along the journey. I watched this musical with my teenage daughter and have been able to connect with her a lot better ever since. Would definitely recommend watching with your children.
This show is nothing but a tumultous emotional roller coaster. While I read reviews stating about how 'powerful' it is, it is infact a show about nothing but a bunch of teenagers and their anxiety. Not worth your time!
I'm an avid theatre goer and I've watched one too many plays on stage every year. However, Dear Evan Hansen took my breath away. The way this play moved me, compelled me to write a review for this. Although we couldn't watch the show with the real actor playing Evan, the understudy also did a pretty amazing job.
Took my 17 year old son for this play and we both aren't ashamed to admit that we ended up sobbing by the end of it. Really, no other play captures the struggles of growing up as beautifully as Dear Evan Hansen does! Was trying to source the tickets from quite a while, i suggest booking in advance as the theatre tends to fill up super soon.
WOW! Such a magical journey. I was laughing one minute and the next was crying uncontrollably. If you're a parent with a teenage kid, it is highly recommended to take them to watch Dear Evan Hansen. The play captures the struggles of growing up unlike any other. It will be an experience worth sharing with your children!
The message "You will be found" is such an essential thing to convey to the youth these days. Dear Evan Hansen is definitely not something that you should miss. The cast is extremely talented! Only disappointment is that I didn't get to watch the real Evan because of a technical difficulty. And while the understudy did just okay, I will definitely be returning to watch this again.
Ben Platt will take your breath away. The play is certainly moving, and it's not only because of its genius storyline, but more because of the soul stirring sound track that makes the play what it is. It is indeed a correct definition of a coming to age play.
LOVELY music! Soul stirring and moving at the same time. The play has everything it takes to make itself a power-packed musical - but it's extremely sad. And you really will end up crying, trust me. Not a great idea if you're the kind who wants a proper, feel good drama. But if possible, don't skip Dear Evan Hansen.
Don't hesitate in going for Dear Evan Hansen just because the plot appears to be slightly darker than the other plays on show right now. It deals with sensitive subjects that are faced by the youth today in a delicate way, and also adds in amazing songs.
I'm not going to deny, I was slightly sceptical of watching Dear Evan Hansen because of the subject it dealt with. In fact, I wasn't even sure if it would end up presenting it the right way because it was a musical. BUT was so glad to be proved wrong! The two and half hours completely roped me into the life of two young men. I strongly recommend watching this play to learn everything you can't speak about elseways.
I was warned by my girlfriend that this play will be a real tear jerker, but I dismissed it back then saying nothing makes me cry. WRONG! Dear Evan Hansen is backed by such an immensely talented cast and creative that it will make you tear up, even if just a little. The concept revolves around the struggle of fitting in, and we've all been there once before. I suggest going for this one even if you're not the sappy kind.
When I was told that Evan would be played by the understudy and not Ben Platt, I won't deny I was slightly disappointed. In fact, I almost thought about not going. But trust me, the person playing the role doesn't matter when the play is woven so wonderfully. Please don't miss out on such a beautifully heartbreaking performance.
Those who visited the performance for Ben Platt ended up being disappointed to see the understudy. I of all was one of them, but I ended up sobbing by the end of the play... almost forgetting why I was disappointed in the first place.
A depressing show! The actors may be talented and everything but the subject brings you down, no matter how hard you try to make it better. It was also too long for my liking! Could have scaled down to at least 1 and half hour, but the show ran up to a lengthy 2 and half hours!
Took my teenage son for this and he absolutely loved it. He doesn't really like shows much but this one he could relate to and loved it. Thumbs UP:)
The customer support team is rude and not very helpful. Wouldn't recommend this app to anyone.
Top notch performance by the cast. What a well written script! While several others were struggling to get a ticket for this one, we got through easily by using Headout. Dear Evan Hansen is more than just a coming of age play!
