From Naples: Pompeii Guided Tour with Optional Herculaneum or Vesuvius Visit

Tour guide was very informative. We had lovely weather also. The booking made it sound like we had the option to choose vesuvius crater OR hurcelan but actually optional means you have to pay extra to go if there are available spots- a little misconception from booking

This is a very long tour with lots of walking. For us it was a bit warm out as well. But our tour guide was amazingly sweet and thoughtful as well as full of information.

The day tour to Pompeii & Mt Vesuvius was fantastic! Maria (guide) & Bruno (driver) were organised, efficient & detailed information. The archeological tour in Pompeii was excellent! Headabout was easy to buy tickets online however the advertised time on the website was wrong so a little bit of confusion at the start of the day.

Everything and when we could not do one part of the tour due to a landslide on Mt Vesuvius and wonderful alternative was offered.

To begin with, I can say that we had an absolutely wonderful guide, Connie. We started by going by bus to Pompeii where we spent about 2.5-3 hours together with another guide who showed us around some of the most important sites. Here I would have liked the guide to have used some sort of sound system, which I saw many other groups use, as it was sometimes difficult to hear what was being said unless you were right in front of her. Apart from this, I have to say that it was a very special feeling to walk around this ruined city which, after all, is so incredibly well preserved. After the walking tour in Pompeii, our bus journey was to continue towards Mount Vesuvius, but to begin with we ran into some problems as it turned out that our bus had broken down. Connie, along with her colleagues worked feverishly to resolve this, which of course they did, and we got a new bus, albeit slightly smaller than the one we originally had. Halfway up Mount Vesuvius we stopped at a restaurant where we had a simple lunch (included in the price), in my case consisting of pizza. After lunch, the bus took us up to about 1000 m altitude to a place where we had to continue the journey towards the top on foot. The last part, the one you hike, can be very tough for many people as you hike just over a kilometer with a constant, relatively steep, uphill. Unfortunately, some rain clouds came towards the mountain just as we were on our way up and it rained for a little while, so we got a little wet, but it also took away some of the opportunities to see the incredible view you get from the top, but as it was, the clouds cleared for a short while so I got to look down into the crater anyway. After spending a while on top of Mount Vesuvius, it was time to hike back to the bus, and that hike is certainly faster, but I think it was harder on the legs because you have to hold on all the time to avoid falling. Once back on the bus, I could finally exhale and look back on the day as an absolutely wonderful day and a well-executed day trip.

My family and I really enjoyed the tour, however, we were scheduled for a 4hour tour in which our actual tour was only 2.5 hours including driving time to destination. We were disappointed that we didn't get the extra time we paid for.

Our tour archeologists Diego made the tour. His knowledge of areas we toured made trip more enjoyable. This tour is not for those that have difficulty walking on uneven surfaces.

The tour was well organized. Diego is an amazing tour guide. Archeologist by trade and story teller by heart. He knows a lot and transports his passion throughout the tour. And seeing those places is incredible. Like of you take a close look at a fresco in one of the many buildings and you see the strokes someone did a looking time ago... You should really see it yourself.

The guide was really very knowledgeable about the place. Her knowledge was admirable. However, it was difficult to follow her and she was easy to lose sight of among all the people there. It would have helped if she'd had a distinctive sign to spot her in the crowd. But she was a very good guide, with knowledge, humor and a good sense of repartee, and we loved her (Raphaella I think).

Our tour guide Gabriel Casavega was absolutely amazing. He started the tour off with such enthusiasm and excitement it was very catchy. I did five tours in my whole time here in Italy and this was by far my favorite. Gabriel made sure everyone understood him and was included and comfortable. He joked around and just made the tour wonderful. Grazie mille to him and Gennaro our driver.

Everything very well organized, the driver, Giovanni was very nice, as well as the guide, who did a great job. I definitely recommend it!

Excellent experience of both historical places to visit, Pompeii and Herculaneum. The drivers were right on time and speaks English well. The archeologist guide, Guilia M. was knowledgeable and friendly pointing out items and structures I would not have known. The audio system was good. In addition, they were noticeably helpful with lost visitors not belonging to our group

Perfect organization, easy booking and start. Francesco was a perfect guide and Micele is the archaeologist who can tell the most exciting story from a professional point of view for 5 hours without interruption. A dream day!

La visita a Pompeya fue muy interesante y la duración fue buena. La guía que nos acompañó en esta visita nos narró muy bien toda la historia de la ciudad y muchas de las anecdotas de Pompeya. Luego fuimos al Vesubio donde cada uno por su cuenta subió hasta el crater del volcán. Nos dieron hora y media. El tour en general estuvo bien, pero nos pareció que el precio estuvo por encima de lo ofrecido.

The tour was well organized, and the guide Cony was very welcoming and friendly! Frankly, everything was perfect from start to finish. Well done!

Pompéi guided tour was excellent and the walk to mount Vesuvio very enjoyable, our guide Antonio & driver Paolo were also helpful and friendly, the only downside was no public toilets at mount Vesuvio.

Sergio, our guide, was very friendly, giving us all the explanations we needed for the visit and lots of interesting information about the 2 sites we visited. The only downside was the "day" formula rather than the service: while we had plenty of time to enjoy Herculaneum, our visit to Pompeii was a little rushed. But otherwise it was very good 🙂

Paolo was the most patient and interesting tour guide I have ever experienced. Throughout a full day in the hot sun, he was so considerate and made the day very special for all of us.
