Chaumont sur Loire, Clos Lucé & Amboise Castle

The guide(s) and bus driver were all great! Chambord was absolutely stunning, though the castle itself is mostly empty, with the exceptions of faux deer heads representing the history and hunting prowess of Francis I, modern art installations, and a reproduction of the theater; it allows you to focus on the building itself. Amboise was very cool, much smaller and more homey, with more in the way of historical storytelling in the exhibits compared to Chambord, and some exceptional views of the Loire; but the town might be even better than the castle. You won't be bored if you skip the castle tour. Personally, Orléans was the only part I could have done without. The Orleans visit focused on two sites: the Cathedral, and "home" of Jeanne d'Arc. While I thought the message of the visit was on point, it also felt overwhelming and rushed after such a long day. Photos are all from Chambord

Simple booking on Headout. Le Clos Lucé is a must-see! My 6-year-old granddaughter couldn't wait to see Leonardo da Vinci's château, and she thoroughly enjoyed discovering the work of this genius. Enjoy your visit ...

I booked tickets for my family to visit 3 Loire castle and in 2 of them one of the ticke had not owrked and I had to queue all the way to request a replacement ticket

Convenient to book all the tickets. Surprised Chambord needs to pay additional fees for the audio guide device but Amboise no fees required for the guide device. Would have been better if the guide device is included for all the tickets

The château itself is quite small but very well preserved and renovated. Each room is decorated and equipped as it was when Da Vinci lived there. The displays of his art and scientific discoveries are informative and well laid out. The gardens are great for a stroll around. The booking process with headout was easy and well priced.

Loved that you could basically wander around with few restrictions.
