Villa d'Este is gorgeous, buying and collecting tickets at the entrance was super easy.

Unfortunately the day we visited, the fountains were not running. Those buying tickets on the day received a reduced rate of 12 Euro, so our full price tickets (17 euro each) were not good value. The gardens were still beautiful but it was a big effort to travel from Rome and not even receive the discount.
