    Why Visit Penang War Museum

The Penang War Museum is the largest War Museum in Southeast Asia, spanning generations of war and historical duress. Built initially as a military fortress during the Second World War, the Fort Museum has multiple tunnels and bunkers still accessible to navigate the history of the war. The museum also exhibits the history of the Japanese occupation, relaying stories of the horrors of war, and serving as an educational reminder of the history of Malay. Penang War Museum provides visitors the opportunity to take a close look at the military history of the nation through its wars and makes for a very sober education of the effects of these wars in the present time.

    Journey through the Museum

On entering the Penang War Museum, visitors are met with reminders of the tumultuous military history of Malaysia, initially through its military tunnels, crawl spaces, and bunkers built for the Second World War. The remnant ammunition and explosives speak of a time not so long ago, while exhibits of soldiers' clothing bring a human touch to this historical time. The museum, spanning 20 acres, has large outdoor spaces, exhibiting remnants of the horrors of war and stories of military generals and the supernatural. The museum has interactive spaces and exhibits, encouraging visitors to experience the daily lives of those living in the fortress during the war.
