Magnificent monuments and superb views from the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but a negative point with regard to the audiophone, as there were 4 of us and we didn't take advantage of it as it can only be downloaded to one phone.

It was relatively easy except we didn't know that you supposed to leave your bags in a locker before going up in the leaning tower of Pisa. The lockers were in a different building so we literally had to run to avoid missing our turn. Visitors should be informed about this in the future.Valentina

I have to give kudos to the organization. There were a lot of people but no queues. Only a few minutes wait to get on the tower, perfectly respecting the assigned time slot.

Getting started
Begin your journey at the heart of Pisa by making your way to Piazza del Duomo, 56126 Pisa PI, Italy, the square that houses the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the magnificent Pisa Cathedral. Arrive a few minutes before your scheduled entry time and display your ticket at the entrance near the Porta Santa Maria, the main gateway to the square.
What to expect
Leaning Tower of Pisa
As you step inside this 12th-century Romanesque marvel, you’ll begin your ascent up the 273 spiraling stone steps. With each step, the tilt of the tower becomes more noticeable, creating a surreal sense of balance and perspective. At the top, you’re rewarded with breathtaking views, from the rooftops of terracotta homes to the lush, surrounding Tuscan countryside.
Pisa Cathedral
After your climb, take time to explore the adjacent Pisa Cathedral, included in your ticket. Admire its intricately carved marble façade, its impressive bronze doors, and the majestic interior adorned with ornate frescoes and soaring arches. The cathedral stands as a testament to Pisa’s religious and artistic heritage.
What's not allowed
- Since the Cathedral is a place of worship, all guests must wear clothing that covers their shoulders and knees.
- In order to preserve the tower, metal objects, bags, and containers are not allowed in.
Accessibility
- The climb involves 273 steep steps with no elevators, so it is not accessible for wheelchair users and guests with cardiovascular issues.
- For safety reasons, children under 8 are not allowed to climb, and those aged 8-18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Additional information
- Cathedral access is free but requires a timed pass if visited on its own—this pass is automatically included with any Pisa Complex ticket, including Tower entry.
- Tickets are timed for the Leaning Tower. Please check the time of your visit. If you are late, you will not be allowed in.
- The selected date and time apply only to the Tower climb; other monuments can be visited on the same day or anytime within a year from that date.
- Due to high demand, your chosen time slot may not be available for the Tower climb: if this happens you will be allocated a new slot an hour before or after your original choice. Please note that you will only be allowed at the top of the tower for 30 minutes.
