Absolutely recommend this event. Although it was more of an exhibition, it was informative about the art of sumo wrestling, but with humor.. The hot pot was tasty and hot . The tempura shrimp and Wagyu beef were also pretty good, but it wasn't really warm. They had the drinks that I like, but my friend would have rated them a star lower only because they didn't have what she drank. However, she's still really enjoyed the show as well and said she would definitely recommend this.

Great atmosphere, easy to find and English speaking staff. The food was good and unlimited besides drinks. Very easy to understand and get into the atmosphere. Lots of memorable moments and spectator participation.

I learned so much about Sumo wrestling and the people who choose it as their career. Very entertaining show. Host was inclusive and engaging. Food v tasty.

The whole thing was amazing and not at all what my partner and I expected. The food was delicious, and the waiting staff were quick and friendly. There was an English speaking announcer, who was very engaging and gave so much interesting info, whilst also getting the crowd involved. The sumo wrestlers were so charismatic and really knew how to work the crowd. My boyfriend and I both volunteered to challenge the wrestlers - putting on an inflatable Sumo suit and trying to push the wrestler out the ring. The Geisha was beautiful and it was great to see her dance. Got a pic with them all the end - what an amazing start to our trip! So worth the money :)

This was one of our favourite things to do in Japan. Highly entertaining, informative and funny show. Service was outstanding and the show was just incredible!!! A must thing to do in Japan.

Experience sumo traditions in Asakusa through live demonstrations by retired wrestlers, interactive sumo activities, and a premium Japanese meal.

Getting started

Arrive at the Asakusa Sumo Club Annex, where staff will guide you through ticket validation near the entrance. Take your seat and listen to a short introduction by the moderator before the program begins.

What to expect

Watch a geisha dance performance on stage and take photos with the performers.

See demonstrations of morning exercises (asa geiko), sumo techniques (kimarite), and a best-of-three match between retired wrestlers.

Learn the rules and etiquette of sumo and join a lottery for a chance to challenge a wrestler in the ring.

Enjoy chanko-nabe chicken hot pot, A5 wagyu beef sukiyaki, and tempura, with all-you-can-drink beverages included.

Take home a framed souvenir photo with wrestlers and geisha, along with a special gift bag.

Upgrades

Choose from three seating options to tailor your experience:

Rear Seats – Standard sofa seating with a set meal that includes chicken hot pot, beef sukiyaki bento, dessert, and one drink.

Business Class – Sofa seating from the second row, offering a closer view of the ring.

First Class – Front-row sofa seating for the best view of the performances, plus extra perks including a chanko-nabe hot pot, A5 wagyu sukiyaki and tempura, unlimited drinks, a printed souvenir photo, a special gift set, and a happi coat.

What’s not allowed

Late vegetarian or vegan meal requests made less than 2 days before the reservation cannot be accommodated.

Gluten-free and halal meals are not available.

Guests with halal or gluten-free dietary needs may bring their own food, as these options are not provided.

The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs.

Additional information

This is a fun sumo show for adults and children, different from serious morning practice tours.

If there are many applicants for the Sumo Challenge, one representative per group may be chosen or selected by lottery.

Souvenir contents may vary depending on the season.

Vegetarian and vegan meals must be requested at the time of booking or at least 2 days before the visit; otherwise, a regular meal will be served.

Sofa seats or tables may be shared with other guests.
