The history shared with us by the narrator on the cruise was fascinating. Learning about the shear of area and water that is drained by the river was incredible. The importance the river has and continues to play in the production of goods from around the world was very interesting. The boat itself being over 100 yrs old and still operating is quite the testament to the engineering and perseverance of all those who have been involved with it. From its inception through today. I love the water and seeing the activity on this tiny stretch of river was certainly something I will remember.

We booked onto an evening cruise. We chose to cruise only and did not book for dinner as we did not want to miss the views. We had a great viewpoint from the port side of the vessel. There are three bars on the boat. When we first boarded everyone headed to the bar on level 3. To avoid the queue use the captains bar on the first deck😉

Steamboat cruise was a fun and relaxing ride. When we went is was raining at a good clip but we were able to sit under a covered area. It was neat to see the steam room. Easy to navigate to the location and boarding went smoothly. Next time we would include the dinner option.

I enjoyed the narrator. Great job! The cruise began on time. Love the cocktail and snacks. I'm in New Orleans for a conference. Had a break and decided to cruise on the "Natchez". The jazz was very smooth. Never been to New Orleans. What a great experience.

Getting started

Cruise the mighty Mississippi for two hours, with live jazz, signature drinks, and incredible New Orleans scenery—especially from the newly enhanced top deck. After a brief introduction, you’re free to explore the vessel and settle in for departure.

What to expect

This vessel continues the tradition of classic river cruising, offering a unique perspective on New Orleans’ riverfront and history.

Features

Live Jazz music: Musicians will perform traditional jazz onboard, a hallmark of New Orleans culture and a highlight of every cruise.

Panoramic River views: Enjoy sweeping views of the Mississippi River and the city skyline from multiple decks as you cruise past popular New Orleans sites, including the Crescent City Connection and St. Louis Cathedral.

What to bring

Shirts and shoes are required on all cruises. While casual attire is fine, we recommend you turn up in “dressy casual” for the Dinner Jazz Cruise. Switch your jeans for some dress pants or a skirt and a blouse or a stylish top. Men can zhuzh it up with a collared shirt (button-down or polo).

What's not allowed

This vessel is completely non-smoking, including all indoor areas and outer decks.

This experience is wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible.

Your guide dogs are welcome at the venue.

Additional Information

Depending on demand and private events, the Steamboat NATCHEZ and Riverboat CITY of NEW ORLEANS will operate interchangeably until March 2026, when both vessels begin running separate schedules. You’ll still enjoy the same two-hour river journey, complete with traditional live jazz, craft cocktails, and beautiful city views. Don’t forget to head up to the top deck for the best lookout point.

Boarding begins 30 minutes before departure. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early.

Those 21 years and older may purchase beverages after presenting a valid photo ID with birthdate as per Louisiana law.
