Nous avons apprecié la promenade auprès des gros portes containers du port d'Hambourg. Le café, les toilettes propres à bord, l'espace extérieur et la possibilité de bouger sur le bateau étaient des plus. En revanche, nous ne sommes absolument pas entrés ne serait-ce qu'au tout début des canaux de la vieille ville alors que nous avions une croisière de deux heures qui le prévoyait. Ça a été très frustrant d'autant que nous n'avons pas été prévenus. Le guide allemand était semble-t-il sympathique et compétent mais il parlait trop fort pour que les commentaires en anglais (et seulement anglais, vive notre partenaire européen !) de l'audio guide soit audible, dommage pour nous.

Captain had a good sense of humor and obviously knowledgeable as he talked alot. Unfortunately we presumed it had audio assistance. And even though we said we spoke English no one mentioned that the tour was a spoken one all in German so didn't understand any of it. 🤣 would've been nice to have been offered an English speaking one, but our fault for booking the wrong tour

De tour was prima en de beleving optimaal. Een opmerking: we gingen er van uit dat er ook een deel Speicherstadt in begrepen was. Dit is niet het geval geweest. We zijn vooral in de haven geweest. Speichterstadt hebben we via de hopon-hopoff bustour gezien. Kortom we hebben niet gekregen wat we hadden gehoopt...

Comfortable and interesting boat ride with drinks and snacks available. The narration was hard to follow as a non-native German speaker, but it was obviously humorous and enjoyed by many.

Handling more than eight million containers in a year, and lined with a fleet of romantic tour barges, Hamburg harbour is the largest seaport in all of Germany! For centuries, this port has been the driving force behind Hamburg’s rising economy. While the port presents itself as a striking image of urbanization and development, it also, much like Venice, has a labyrinth of canals, inducing a feeling of medieval times. Hamburg owes much of its worldly character to the mighty Elbe, the river on which the port is situated.

The extended 2-hour tour of the port of Hamburg is nothing short of an adventure. With informative and interesting facts imparted by an experienced captain on board the cruise, you will leave with a better and deeper understanding of the affairs that take place within the harbour shores. By the time you’re done with the cruise, you’ll be thorough with container terminals, having a better understanding of terms like dry dock, TEU, RoRo, and more. A detour to the historic Speicherstadt will take you through narrow crisscrossing canals and numerous bridges offering picturesque views of Neo-Gothic brick buildings.
