Great experience. We showed up early and they allowed us to take the earlier ferry. Ferry ride was great, had a snack bar with quite a few choices and lots of seats available inside and outside. Great views during the ride out and back. Once on the island, steep climb up to the jailhouse plus a shuttle if needed. The audio tour was really well done with information from workers to inmates. You're allowed to walk around at your own pace and then just take any ferry back to the city. Good gift shop on the island. Very clean bathrooms available before you get on the ferry.

We really enjoyed the cruise around the bay. The audio program is a bit outdated, but it adds character to the tour. Our guide was fantastic, I wish I remembered his name. He added little tid bits of information the recording didn't have and was so knowledgeable. The wind was a bit wicked on the way out, but the close up views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz were stunning! We chose the 6 PM cruise and also got to enjoy the sun setting over the Pacific as well. 10/10 would go again and would recommend to anyone else!

Alex covered everything and then some in a timely manner with contingency plans in place for traffic conditions. Communication for Meetup was also clear and concise.Was well worth the money. Glad we took it.

The amazing staff and tour was an amazing experience and reasonably priced as well. The guided voice tour along with it was great and I'd do it again! Highly recommend

What an interesting insight to this historical prison. The audio tour was absolutely brilliant with background sounds to set off how it felt to be there as an inmate. It was heart wrenching to hear how they were treated but elating to learn that some had made something of themselves when they left. The cells were awful and you could imagine the life they had. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area - it was well worth the 2.5 hour round trip with the ferry crossing being an added bonus. i'd recommend moving onto Pier 39 afterwards to see the Sea Lions!

The Cruise goes straight to the golden gate and passed by the bridge turns back to Alcatraz island and back to the harbor. The view is amazing and I recommend the 6pm tour with the sunset on the golden gate
