At first apprehensive, I mustered the strength to travel alone via train from Lisbon to Sintra. By the end of the day, I made a new friend that I met in the Initiation Well in Quinta de Regaleiira! A truly enchanted place indeed! The lush nature and fantasy-like castle was breathtaking after being in the city-life of Lisbon. Pena Palace was also stunning, I enjoyed the view of the Atlantic Ocean, the city below, and the fresh air from the Queen's Terrace. I rode tuk tuks and walked, enjoying the fresh air. I wandered around the Seteais Palace and saw a hedge maze! I had pastry and croissant in the city center, then shared a taxi to Cascais with my new soul sister! We rode back to Lisbon together. This is a must do experience, I would like to do it again, with no phone (and add the Monserrate Palace & Park)! I felt like Queen for a day, mi castle, tu castle!!! Highly recommend and would so again!

Quinta de Regaleira was one of the highlights of my trip! The estate is absolutely stunning, with beautiful gardens, hidden pathways, mysterious tunnels, and incredible architecture around every corner. The Initiation Well was especially amazing and something I had never experienced before. Exploring the underground tunnels and discovering all the hidden features throughout the property made the visit feel like a real adventure. There is so much to see and explore, so I would definitely recommend allowing plenty of time rather than rushing through. The combination of history, architecture, nature, and mystery makes Quinta de Regaleira a truly unique place.

This place is absolutely stunning. We made our way to the famous well straight away which already had long queues but it's the standout attraction for this area. A couple of things to note; the staff are very strict on the tour times so you can only enter 15mins before your booking time with one hours grace after. Also, a taxi can't take you straight to the area so you will have to walk from the centre of Sintra (10-15min walk uphill). However, it's definitely worth visiting with lots of opportunities to take stunning photos.

Absolutely enchanting! Quinta da Regaleira feels like stepping into a fairy tale, with its mysterious tunnels, lush gardens, hidden grottoes, and the spectacular Initiation Well. Every corner reveals something new and fascinating. The combination of nature, architecture, and mystery makes this one of the most memorable places to visit in Sintra. A must-see!

Absolutely beautiful places and a wonderful experience. Pena Palace was spectacular, and Quinta da Regaleira was even more magical than we expected. The gardens, architecture and incredible views made this one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Everything with the tickets worked smoothly. Definitely worth visiting!

Ha sido un tour 10/10. El lugar y su historia merecen muchísimo la pena de visitar y mi suerte fue dar con una guía como Eliana. Tiene una manera de explicar las cosas que te envuelve y te hace sentir la magia que guarda Sintra. He disfrutado mucho de la visita. ¡Lo recomiendo muchísimo!

We really enjoyed visiting Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra. It is such a beautiful and unique place, with lovely gardens, interesting architecture, winding paths, and hidden tunnels to explore. The Initiation Well was definitely a highlight and something we had never seen before. We enjoyed walking around the property and discovering all the different areas along the way. It has a very peaceful feel in some areas, while others are fun to explore and a little mysterious. We would definitely recommend visiting if you are in Sintra. Give yourself plenty of time to walk around and take it all in—it’s a beautiful place and well worth the visit!

Ambos palacios y sus jardines son una auténtica maravilla. Principalmente nos gustó mucho más el de Regaleira con sus cuevas, fuentes y el espectacular pozo invertido. En cuanto al Palacio de la Pena el día nos salió nublado y con niebla y los paisajes fueron menos vistosos que de haber estado el cielo abierto. Lo que menos me gustó fue la enorme masificación de entradas para el de la Pena, una auténtica vergüenza. Como piojos en costura. No se disfrutó igual que el de Regaleira.

Questo è un luogho veramente suggestivo, tanto che a distanza di 1 settimana dalla visita ho sognato un posto magico dove una sirena nuotava tra torri coperte da muschio in mezzo alle montagne... merita una visita, Luogho unico, troppo sconosciuto rispetto a quella che è la sua bellezza. Consiglio di visitarlo di mattina presto per trovare un po'meno gente🍀🐌🐞🌼🌲

Está muy bien pero es cierto que ha perdido algo del encanto que tenía hace años cuando había menos gente. El pozo iniciático tenía más misterio tanto en su entrada como más pasadizos que llegaban a él. Todo eso lo han quitado ahora me imagino por la masificación de gente. Además ahora está muchísimo más caro que antes. No obstante está muy bien y es una buena experiencia. Merece la pena.

What to bring

Quinta da Regaleira

During the summer months, it is recommended to bring hats/caps to protect from the sun, and water for hydration due to high temperatures.

It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes as this experience involves a fair amount of walking.

Pena Palace

Access to this monument is not authorized for private vehicles. We recommended the use of pedestrian trails or public transportation.

Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along for this experience.

Quinta da Regaleira

Keep in mind that drones are not allowed in this experience. Pack wisely!

Shutterbugs, take note: Flash photography and tripods are a no-go inside the venue.

Suitcases, trolleys, and backpacks are not allowed inside the venue.

Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along for this experience.

The attraction may be crowded, so expect some waiting time, especially at the security checkpoint (15–20 minutes).

Your selected time slot is for entry to Pena Palace. Since it’s about a 30-minute walk from the park entrance to the palace, make sure to arrive early. Late arrivals may be denied entry.

Please use the house tour entrance instead of the main gate.

Private vehicles are not permitted, so visitors should use pedestrian trails or public transport.

About 30 km from Lisbon, Pena Palace sits in Sintra, where parking is available in the historic center or outer lots, though spaces can be limited.

The shuttle service covers round-trip transfers between the park entrance and Pena Palace.

Reduced tickets for children aged 6-18 and seniors aged 65 and above are available onsite.

Quinta da Regaleira

If you can, avoid driving into Sintra; the streets are narrow, parking is limited, and traffic can be challenging, especially in peak season.

Should you drive, park in Sintra town center and enjoy the 30-minute scenic walk to Quinta da Regaleira. Public transport is your best bet to get to Quinta stress-free.
