Head to the grandstand by the water to enjoy an enthralling show set in New York with its graffitied subway cars and the Statue of Liberty against the backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge. The entire musical is performed under a 30-meter highway underpass that runs across the length of the stage, symbolizing New York’s underbelly, riddled with urban gang culture. 2.5 times larger than any other Australian indoor stage, it required 105 workers to toil for 25 days to build this elaborate stage such that it gives you a taste of New York.

The West Side Story, a 1950’s musical tale of two star-crossed lovers, is adapted especially for the massive Sydney Harbor Stage. The live orchestra hidden behind the stage accompanied by energetic dance routines make crowd favorites like ‘Maria’, ‘I feel pretty’, ‘America’, and ‘Somewhere’ enliven the air with aching joy. An eclectic mix of music and colors showcase and celebrate the gang rivalry - making the musical a sensorial extravaganza.
