Portugal never dissapoints and Sintra was no different! Just a 40 minute train ride from Lisbon, these beautiful sights were just breathtaking. I've never been so immersed in beauty, the Castle of the Moors and Quinta da Regaleira were beyond beautiful. You need to devote 2-3 hours to walking each because there's so much to take in. We even went on a rainy day and it was still just stunning, we were encapsulated in a cloud at one point which was really cool too. Highly recommend both places and Sintra in general!

Today was my birthday and I wanted to feel like I was in a fairy tale. And so it was. Access was fast, the Fountain of Initiation charged me with a special energy, the gardens and the palace impressed me! First of all, I felt that spring is here and that warmed my soul. I felt that every step I took revealed a story and I had a successful birthday! I was impressed by the place! ❤️

I really enjoyed the grotto at the end of the big stairway, which I also really liked. Sadly, the stonesteps in the small pool were closed of due to all the rain, but im shure that I would have loved to experience it. All the small little passages between the roads where also one of my highlights.

Visiting Quinta da Regaleira was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my trip to Portugal. From the moment I stepped inside, it felt like entering a world where history, mystery, and imagination come together perfectly. Every corner of the estate tells a story—hidden tunnels, symbolic architecture, lush gardens, and the iconic Initiation Well that truly takes your breath away. The experience feels both timeless and surreal, as if the estate was designed to be explored rather than simply visited. It’s the kind of place that sparks curiosity at every turn and leaves you in awe long after you’ve walked out the gates.

Oh my, what a magical place to visit. I think I took aroubd 400photos during our visut. The Initiation Well was a real treat - it was stunning and I must say I was relieved to not have to climb the stairs to exit. We visited on a warm, sunny Winter day and the gardens were beautiful - we enjoyed the seperate gardens and stairways and the views are sublime. The Palace and Chalel were magical. We spent aroubd 4 hours and loved every moment.

National Palace of Sintra

The National Palace of Sintra served as a residence for almost every Portuguese king and queen till the end of the monarchy in 1910. The first thing you’ll notice from a distance is its two conical chimneys and rooms, culminating centuries of Moorish and Portuguese history. The tour will take you through some of its most iconic rooms, including the Swan Hall, the Magpie Room, the Palatine Chapel, and the Heraldic Hall with its octagonal dome. Each space features intricate details from a variety of different influences.

Quinta de Regaleira

The Quinta de Regaleira was built in the 20th century by António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, a wealthy Brazilian businessman. Walking through each floor, you’ll come across a mix of Gothic, Rainnaisance, and Manueline styles. A stroll through the gardens will lead you to an underground network of tunnels and an initiation well. Every corner is dotted with symbolism, and the tunnels also lead to a secret entrance that leads to the Initiation Well.
