Mauritshuis has long been my favorite small museum. There are many master works by Rembrant, Frans Hals, Rubens, and others. There are 2 Vermeers, but the Girl With the Pearl Earing was on short term loan when I was there most recently. There is an elevator from the plaza to the entry level, and one from the entry level to the first exhibit floor; however, I did not see one to the masterworks level. As a result, if you cannot walk stairs I would inquire.

Last minute plan to visit Maurits house, was unable to get tickets online directly through museum website . Headout saved the day. Spend some quality time at the museum doing the high light tour. The museum is a gem with an enormous collection. Nice giftshop. You can store your personal items in lockers free of charge to better enjoy the experience. We also choose to get some reprieve in the climate control museum during a hot day in The Hague. Do not skip it as part of your visit!

One of my wife's favorite movie is "The Girl with the Pearl Earring". So when we decided to go from Chicago to Amsterdam for our anniversary we wanted to make the Mauritshuis one of our go-to places. The museum was better than we expected and had way more besides the painting. . Seeing Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring in person was special but the other paintings were a huge bonus. For Gail and me, the short trip from Amsterdam to The Hague was well worth it and ended up being one of our favorite experiences of the trip.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 10am – 6pm, and Monday from 1pm – 6pm.

The Highlights Tour is offered in multiple languages including Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian, Russian, Mandarin, Korean, and Japanese.

Madurodam Miniature Park

As an outdoor attraction, visitors are advised to dress appropriately for the weather.

The park can be reached easily by public transport from Amsterdam Central Station.

From The Hague Central Station or Holland Spoor Station, take tram line 9 and alight at the “Madurodam” stop.
