Luminescence at Westminster Cathedral was a wonderful experience. I'd not been in the Cathedral before and that was an experience in itself but the Luminescence show was beautiful. We were a bit surprised at the lengths of the lines we had to stand in for some time before entering and the show started late but everything went smoothly and it was well worth it in the end. So glad we went!

I went to see Luminescence and I though it was an incredibly thoughtful, inspiring, beautifully crafted celebration of community and the power of collective Organisation to pass down a place of safety, contemplation and beauty to future generations

Terrific show. Lighting, sound and choir in particular were fantastic. BUT tickets show that it begins at 7.30. IT DOESN'T. Doors open at 7.30. Thatsaid ... great show and well worth seeing

I saw the ad on facebook and it looked an amazing experience so decided to book through Headout. I was not disappointed, it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend Headout.

It was a great experience and I would recommend - however I do think they could have done much more with the lights - it did get a bit samey and I think they dropped the ball as could have made it so much better - eg poppies when the spitfires were flying over. The entry was a bit of a shambles. The queues were huge by 7:15 and when they opened the doors they never checked a single gold ticket so we could have walked in without paying. The start was delayed by about 20 mins due to a stream of people filing in - I saw people walking up and being let in well past 7:30. People are certainly packed in. I felt there was too much singing (and don't get me wrong the choir were superb) and there could have been way more history in the narration. All in all an enjoyable 45 minutes but not sure if it was particularly value for money.

The effects were stunning, the narration informative and there was a very moving ambience. I wouldn't have wanted to have queued in the rain or to have had to sit on the chairs for much longer!

The actual show was amazing however the organisation outside the cathedral was chaotic. It was set up all in the last minute, the show started later due to that. Lots of old people have to stand in a queue for a long time for no reason. That part wasn't great, the show was amazing though.

The history, the scene about the 2. War, the airplane, the flashing light, the damage of the Church, it was a fantastic light show. The show of the year. Tank you for a great performance. We Will be back in London in february 2027. Birger

Absolutely excellent experience. The story of Westminster cathedral was beautifully done from start to finish and very memorable. I particularly loved the WWII sequence. I thought it was pure genius. The music selection was perfect, ably supported by a great choir. Also a shout out to the people who prepared the programme. Very worthwhile buying it. A really lovely production. Sadly almost everyone bypassed it but I thought it was one of the best programmes I have ever bought and something I will look at again and again.

Getting started

Arrive at Westminster Cathedral, located on Victoria Street in central London, and present your ticket for entry. Please plan to arrive up to 20 minutes before your scheduled session, as security lines close at the show’s start time and late entry is not permitted. Once inside, make your way to your seat and prepare for the concert to begin.

What to expect

Westminster Cathedral

This Neo-Byzantine landmark, known for its red-and-white brickwork and mosaic-adorned domes, transforms into a multi-sensory performance space for Luminiscence.

Experience a 360° video projection that uses advanced video mapping to illuminate the cathedral’s architecture, including its mosaic domes, as originally envisioned by the architect.

Listen to narration by Hugh Bonneville, who tells the story of London and Westminster Cathedral through a specially commissioned script by Tim Whitnall.

Enjoy live performances by the Lux Aeterna choir and a 14-piece Luminiscence orchestra, performing works by composers such as Beethoven, Verdi, Debussy, Vivaldi, and Bach.

The concert features a spatial sound experience, immersing you in music and narration throughout the cathedral’s renowned acoustic space.

What to bring

All visitors must bring a valid ticket for entry, including children; free entry is available for children aged 0–5 years, but a ticket is still required.

What's not allowed

Food and beverages are not permitted inside the venue, and there are no options to purchase them on site.

Large bags and non-essential items should not be brought, as there is no cloakroom or storage facility.

Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along.

Flash photography is not allowed, and visitors must not hold cameras or phones above their heads while taking photos or recording.

Accessibility

Westminster Cathedral offers level access at the main entrance, making the main event space accessible for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility; however, some chapels within the cathedral have steps.

Accessible restrooms are available on site.

A hearing loop and transcription are available upon request for visitors with hearing impairments.

For your convenience, your guide dogs are welcome to join you.

Please arrive up to 20 minutes before your scheduled session, as late entry is not permitted.

Restrooms, including accessible toilets, are available; the lavatory block is accessed from the north door exit adjacent to the confessionals, and there is an accessible lavatory in Cathedral Hall.

There is no strobe lighting during the performance, but flashing lights are used.
