This British musical ode to the vitality of the 1980s is propelled by a soundtrack more powerful than kryptonite. In Eugenius!, we tag along with Eugene, a little boy who is obsessed with superheroes and who spends his free time making up his own superhero universe. In Eugenius!, norms are broken, miracles happen, nerds defeat their enemies rather than becoming their victims, and the latent superhero in all of us is unmasked. Success appears within grasp when a Hollywood talent scout visits Eugene's high school and offers him the part of a lifetime. Like a comic book movie, evil is hiding around every corner. In 2016, the London Palladium hosted a one-night-only performance of Eugenius! The following year, 2018, The Other Palace hosted a fully produced production of Eugenius! that received rave reviews. Reviews used terms like "infectiously poppy pastiche" and "astonishingly catchy" to describe the music. Subsequently, the brilliant production was nominated for two WhatsOnStage awards. Directed by Hannah Chissick and masterful writing by Ben Adams and Chris Wilkins makes Eugenius! simply genius.
