If you are an adventure junkie, then this helicopter flight over the glaciers will prove to be an experience of a lifetime for you.
Arrive at the Helicopter Line Base, situated on the Main Road (State Highway 6), Franz Josef Glacier, 7856 where you will be given a safety briefing by your pilot before you take off on this 20-minute aerial tour of Fox glacier or the Franz Josef glacier. This two-engine helicopter helps access the most beautiful and remote regions of the Southern Alps.
The helicopter will take you up and very close to the water-filled crevasses and towering ice formations. Admire the panoramic views of the glaciers, and the mountains as you receive informative commentary from your pilot. Step out on the pitstop made at the glacier’s snow plains and have your winter wonderland moment. You will get to witness the glory of New Zealand’s highest peak Mt Cook/ Aoraki from the glacial summit before you head back to the base.
