We learned a lot and it was a wonderful experience. Natsuki was a great tour guide friendly and helpful our taxi driver couldn't find meeting point and she waited for us. The teahouse introduction were great and they made us feel welcome. Our maiko was a sweet girl still learning gentle and kind. She is doing a great job keeping old traditions alive and teaching us. Thanks

A truly unique experience that's definitely worth your time! Masaki-san's performance was absolutely amazing, and the interactive game made the experience even more memorable. Our guide, Sara, was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and lovely throughout the entire experience. Highly recommended!

Such a beautiful experience. Maiko-san was a gorgeous, gracious and talented young lady. It was such a wonderful opportunity to be able to ask Maiko-san questions about her life as a Maiko. You will be mesmerised by this very special occasion. Highly recommended.

This was a fantastic experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto! We went for an afternoon show and it was a lovely experience. We learned about the history and daily practices of Geishas and Maikos, as well as got to experience a live performance from one of the few Maikos left in Kyoto!

Experience Kyoto’s living geisha traditions through a rare Maiko performance, interactive games, guided cultural insights, and optional upgraded experiences.

Getting started

Arrive at your selected venue in Kyoto and present your booking confirmation and valid photo ID at check-in. Depending on your chosen option, the experience takes place at a historic tea house, the MUTEKI Theater, or a theater venue in Gion.

What to expect

Maiko cultural performance: Watch a live traditional dance performance by a Maiko, an apprentice geisha trained in Kyoto’s refined performing arts traditions.

Interactive cultural exchange: After the performance, take part in a guided Q&A session with live English translation, giving you insight into Maiko training, daily life, and cultural customs.

Traditional party game: Join a classic Japanese ozashiki-style party game hosted by the Maiko for a more interactive and engaging cultural experience.

Photo and video time: Capture photos and videos during designated moments and enjoy close-up interactions in an intimate small-group setting.

Upgrades

Select options with tea and Japanese snacks served in a historic Kyoto tea house.

Upgrade to include a visit to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine alongside the cultural experience.

Choose the Gion theater option at MUTEKI for an alternate performance venue and show format.
