Experience a tandem skydive over Franz Josef Glacier with breathtaking mountain and glacier views. Feel the thrill of freefall from altitudes between 10,000 ft and 18,000 ft, with your certified tandem instructor securely attached as you soar above glacier valleys, alpine peaks, lush rainforest and sprawling landscapes before the parachute opens.
Getting started
Arrive at the skydive base near Franz Josef Glacier. After check‑in, you’ll receive a safety briefing, be fitted with your jumpsuit and harness, and meet your experienced tandem instructor who will guide you through the entire jump process.
What to expect

Altitude & freefall: Climb to your chosen altitude—options include 10,000 ft (about 30s freefall), 13,000 ft (45 s freefall), 16,500 ft (60s freefall), or 18,000 ft (85s freefall) before leaping out of the plane for an exhilarating freefall.

Parachute descent: After the freefall, your parachute deploys, and you’ll enjoy 3–7 minutes of peaceful gliding with panoramic views of glaciers, mountains and the Southern Alps below.

Scenic surroundings: Take in surreal views of the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, braided rivers, rainforest and distant Tasman Sea as you float gently toward the landing area.

- It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes and shoes that won’t fall off.

Keep your selfie sticks, GoPro and drones tucked away as photography is not allowed for this experience.

This experience is restricted for guests over the weight of 100kg. Persons weighing between 100-115kg may be able to jump, subject to assessment by a tandem master and a harness fitting on the day.

Parental or guardian consent is required for anyone under the age of 18.

Children under 12 will be evaluated on an individual basis.

The weight restriction may occasionally be raised to 120kg, subject to the discretion of the Tandem Master and prevailing weather conditions. Additional charges may be applicable in such cases.

It's usually best to eat before the skydiving issues, however, some people may be susceptible to stomach upset and/or motion sickness from all the excitement.

Plan for 1.5‐3 hours, but it can vary due to the busy summer season, large groups, and the weather.
