Getting started

Arrive at the pottery studio in Avanos and check in with the team, who will confirm your booking and introduce the workshop before your instructor walks you through the basics of working with clay.

Getting familiar with the wheel

Once settled in, your instructor introduces the pottery wheel and basic shaping techniques used in Cappadocia’s long-standing ceramic traditions. With guidance at every step, you’ll learn how to center the clay, control the wheel, and begin forming your first shape.

Shape your own pottery piece

Now it’s your turn to work the clay. Under the instructor’s watchful eye, you’ll mold and refine your pottery piece using traditional tools and hand techniques, experimenting with form while discovering the rhythm of the wheel.

Learn from local artisans

As you create, your instructor shares tips, techniques, and stories about Cappadocia’s pottery heritage—especially the region’s deep ties to ceramic craftsmanship along the Kızılırmak River. It’s a relaxed, interactive session where questions and creativity are encouraged.
