Really enjoyed this tour! I’m so glad I chose the overnight option as it gave me the chance to experience Meteora at sunset, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. I chose the Panoramic Morning Tour and was especially lucky to have Maria as our guide. She is so bubbly, engaging and full of stories, with so much knowledge and passion to share about Meteora. I absolutely loved having her as our guide. She made the whole experience even more memorable, and I would highly recommend this tour and Maria to anyone visiting Meteora! ❤️. The hotel although rated 3 stars feels good. It was clean and well located and even included a simple breakfast which I enjoyed.

While I genuinely loved every minute of this experience, I would have to say the panoramic sunset was my favorite part, it was absolutely incredible! Additionally the trip was so well organized. It made it all so easy, all I had to do was hop on the bus and I was dropped off at each site and my hotel. I've already recommended this exact same trip to many of my friends.

This tour was amazing! I booked the 3* hotel, which was nice and had a good breakfast. We're guided in the city by local guides, visiting the monasteries, the hermit caves, short stops to admire the view, watch the sunset (so beautiful!), learning fun facts. It was very rich. If I had done it without the guided tour, it'd be a loss. If they had a 3 days tour, it would stay be worthy! I could use an extra day for a hiking through the forest and to visit the Holy Trinity Monastery. Great deal. I strongly suggest.

My guide, Andrea, was amazing. Her historical knowledge was exceptional. She did a great job explaining everything and going at a pace so everyone could follow along. I feel so well informed now. I highly recommend this tour, especially with Andrea. Thank you!

La sortie au coucher du soleil est une super expérience ! Avec une ambiance magique! La guide du 2eme jour maria était très intéressante et investie Le seul bémol l'attente apres le tour est bcp trop long. On a attendu jusqu'à 18h30 pour repartir alors que le tour se termine à 13h30. Surtout qu'il faut encore 4h de route pour rentrer à Athènes. Peut etre vouloir moins regrouper absolument par souci d'économies permettrait cela. Par ailleurs, un manque de communication flagrant quand on vient nous récupérer à 17h30 pour nous faire attendre à 10 min de où on etait pendant une heure sans aucune explications, qu'on nous dépose à l'hôtel sans plus de communication

Todo perfecto, lo único que el segundo día al tomar el tour panorámico quedamos libres a las 13hs aproximadamente. Esperar hasta las 17hs que te recogen para volver a Atenas se hace muy largo.

Spend 2 days discovering Meteora with round-trip luxury coach transfers from Athens, a hotel stay in Kalabaka or Kastraki, and guided touring each day.

A professional English-speaking guide accompanies both days, leading a sunset tour on Day 1 and your choice of a sightseeing or hiking tour on Day 2, with hotel transfers included.

On Day 1, visit one or two Meteora monasteries, explore the Hermit Caves of Badovas and the Byzantine Church of the Virgin Mary, then end the day at a panoramic sunset viewpoint.

I choose a 2day trip. The local tour guide are considerate and gentle and knowledgeable, but on my way back to Athens, they squeeze me into a silver colored Meteora Throns one day trip bus and the lady with hoarse voice who seems to be the tour guide of one day trip, is a bit rude. She Don't allow me to get on the bus before one day trip guests are all aboard. They were just getting a coffee and using toilets and I stand on the side waiting. And when I am allowed to get on, she looked at my backpack, lean in, and asked sarcastically "where are you gonna put it?" I wish I could put her sarcastic tone into words. The question is unnecessary, if there's no space just tell me or I will know when I get there. I answered "shelves above". She said "there's no space." I said “open up the luggage compartment door then.” This conversation make the other lady who was at the door looked at me worryingly. It was that obvious. After I store my luggage aborad the bus and sit down there is obviously a shelf and some space… so what's the whole point i dont understand. You dont want me on your bus or what??

What to bring

Smartphone and earphones: Required to use the multilingual audio guide inside the monasteries.

Comfortable clothing and footwear: Wear closed-toe shoes with good grip for uneven paths and stairs. Men must wear long trousers, while women should wear skirts below the knee and cover their shoulders to enter the monasteries.

Water and light snacks: Recommended, especially during the warmer months.

What's not allowed

Photography restrictions: Photography is not permitted inside chapels or of resident monks and nuns.

Drones: Flying drones is prohibited without prior authorization.

Accessibility

Not wheelchair accessible: Meteora's monasteries involve stairs and sloped paths. St. Stephen's Monastery offers the easiest access, with a paved pathway and fewer steps than the others.

Additional information

Facilities: Restrooms are available at larger monasteries such as Great Meteoron, Varlaam, and St. Stephen's, and may require a small tip for use.
