Definitely go as early as you can. There was already a line when we arrived at 0730. Crowds were crazy so we were glad that we arrived early with our pre-purchased tickets. There was a very friendly young man checking tickets and then scanning people in. Definitely a must-see, super historical and so very well maintained.

Early morning weather and crowds not pleasant. Suggest one goes up late afternoon. Less people and clearer sky. The online booking works well and one can beat the crowds to the top of the Acropolis. My second visit in over 30 years so great to see the progress in restoration of the site.

Die Kombination aus hop-on Bus und Ticket ist eigentlich toll, wir waren jedoch mit dem Schiff da, so brachten uns die 2 Tage hop-on nichts. Das der erste Bus am Hafen um 10.10 Uhr fährt ist ebenfalls sehr schade da man so in den Sommermonaten in der Mittagshitze unterwegs ist.

Una dintre cele mai impresionante experiențe trăite în Atena a fost vizita la Acropole, un loc ce ar trebui văzut măcar o dată în viață. Am achiziționat biletele online, o alegere inspirată, care mi-a permis să evit cozile lungi de la casa de bilete și să încep vizita fără grabă. Am pătruns pe la intrarea sudică a sitului, unde traseul se deschide treptat spre vestigiile antice. Pe drum am trecut pe lângă Teatrul lui Dionysos și Odeonul lui Herodes Atticus, înainte de a ajunge la Propilee, poarta monumentală ce deschide accesul către Acropole și, mai departe, către Partenon. Atmosfera locului este încărcată de istorie, iar senzația de a păși pe urmele unei civilizații antice este greu de exprimat în cuvinte. Momentul de apogeu al vizitei a fost panorama amplă asupra Atenei, admirată din punctul de observație de pe Acropole. Priveliștea orașului, este cu adevărat spectaculoasă și justifică fiecare pas al urcușului. Recomand vizita dimineața sau spre seară, când aglomerația și căldura sunt mai ușor de evitat.

Visiting the Acropolis and the Parthenon with my son Gianni was one of the most meaningful experiences of our journey through Greece. Standing before monuments that shaped democracy, philosophy, and world history was truly unforgettable. A must-visit if you’re anywhere near Athens. The Parthenon and hilltop views are genuinely impressive, especially around sunset. The historical significance lives up to the hype, and the museum nearby adds a lot of context. Best tip: Go early morning or late afternoon to avoid heat and tour groups. Overall: 9/10 for history, views, and atmosphere.

It was so amazing seeing the history. Lots of walking and stairs , and the terrain is often just large rocks,so you have to be careful walking around. But definitely worth it to get up close to these ancient structures!

Acropolis & Parthenon

The Acropolis is a stunning Athenian temple complex located on a rocky outcrop above the city. Stop by the ruins of legendary structures like the Propylaea, the entrance to the ancient temple of Parthenon. With your audio guide in 3 languages, wander across the once-sacred halls of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion. The Odeon of Herodes Atticus will leave you in awe. This large amphitheater was built in AD 161 by wealthy Roman Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife Regilla and is still used today for music festivals.

At the Acropolis site, there is no network signal so please download the audio tour before your visit.

Each audio tour stop is geo-located so to listen to all the information provided, you've to wait for the narration to move forward to the next stop. Skip stops by choosing the next or by choosing the one you want from the menu

Visitors are encouraged to use credit cards in all financial transactions in the museum.

It's recommended that you wear comfortable shoes as this experience includes a fair amount of walking.

Bring along your sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, and water bottle.

The following museum services/facilities will no longer be offered to visitors until further notice: Family backpacks, baby strollers, wheelchairs, Reading Lounge on the second floor, and Parent’s Room on the first floor.

Backpacks and large bags must be left in the cloakroom where they will be disinfected using a steam appliance.
