The cheap drinks were a bonus. We thought show was a life show but turned out to be a video recording. Venue was small and no place to sit.

Getting started

Head to the central departure pier near Centraal Station to set sail on your evening light festival cruise, or make your way to Amstel 194 for your scheduled Xtracold Icebar visit. Show your digital voucher on your smartphone at each entrance for seamless, priority access.

What to expect

Enter an extraordinary venue kept at a freezing –10°C, constructed from 60 tons of natural ice.

Features:

Sub-zero ice lounge: Experience a unique frozen environment constructed entirely from ice, complete with frozen ice furniture, intricate ice sculptures, and atmospheric lighting.

3 included complimentary drinks: Enjoy a welcome drink in the warm lounge bar, followed by two chilled beverages of your choice served in ice-carved glasses inside the icebar.

Thermal gear & explorer theme: Stay comfortable with provided thermal coats and gloves while immersing yourself in a Dutch Arctic exploration storyline.

Glide through Amsterdam’s central canals on a quiet electric boat along the official festival route.

Icebar Amsterdam

The Xtracold Icebar is open Sunday to Thursday from 3:45pm to 10:40pm, and Friday to Saturday from 11:45am to 1am.

The Icebar is always kept at –10°C.

Icebar management reserves the right to refuse entrance if guests are intoxicated, underage, or unable to prove their age.

Arrive at least 20 minutes before your timeslot for check-in.

You can spend up to 20 minutes inside the actual Icebar.

Last admission is 45 minutes before closing time.

Tickets can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 8 hours in advance.

Children under 18 are not allowed inside the Icebar.

The nearest public transport stop is Waterlooplein (tram 14 & metro 51, 53, 54).

Amsterdam Light Festival Cruise

Weekends & Christmas holidays sell out first, so book early.

The boat is covered, but outdoor areas may still be cold.

The cruise departs every 30 minutes between 5pm and 9:30pm from November 26, 2026 to January 17, 2027. On New Year's Eve (December 31), the lights are on until 9pm, and the last boat departs at 7:30pm.

You can book online up to 30 minutes before departure.

Board at the KINboat ticket booth at Prins Hendrikkade 33A, directly opposite Amsterdam Central Station. Please check in at the booth a few minutes before departure.

The cruise is suitable for children above the age of 3.

Cruises are conducted in English.
