As we were standing in line listening to the Guide my fiancee (who i had JUST asked to marry me IN the Sistine Chapel the previous Sunday before) turned to me and exclaimed as to how much she liked the information provided and in general HOW he did it and how "cute" this older gentleman was :) we LOVED the dome climb and using the elevator was the best call EVER!! OF COURSE the Basilica was STUPENDOUS (brought me to tears at one point) and the audio tour for it was helpful and informative. I will definitely be recommending you to friends that are visiting soon! Thank you and keep up the good work! Tom and Belinda

Devo dire che tutto era ben organizzato. I miei complimenti a valerie guida eccezionale nella sua vera religiosità. Ci ha fatto fare un percorso all'interno della basilica spiegandoci e permettendoci di capire le opere d'arte all'interno. Il you doveva durare 2 ore ed invece alla fine è durato il doppio e la guida è sempre stata con noi. Nulla da dire il prezzo del biglietto è sicuramente giusto. Lo rifarò sicuramente al prossimo viaggio a Roma. Visita re San Pietro senza guida non ha assolutamente senso. Valerie ha davvero una marcia in più perch. Eva saputo farci immergere nella vita di San Pietro.

Esperienza da fare almeno una volta nella vita. Dal punto di vista storico, architettonico e sociale ci si trova d'avanti ad uno dei complessi più importanti del mondo, ordunque a tal proposito vi è poc'altro da dire. La guida, Brigida, è stata fantastica! Essa, cortese, educata e disponibile ha accompagnato il gruppo addentro ogni particolare storico ed architettonico del giro. Il personale interno davvero cortese e disponibile, agenzia consigliatissima!

Je pensais gagner du temps en prenant ce type de billet; or, avec ou sans guide, nous aurions passé le même temps dans la file d'attente (le guide n'avait absolument aucun moyen de nous faire gagner du temps) et nous avons payé 10 euros de plus l'entrée au Dôme pour aucun avantage supplémentaire par rapport à quelqu'un qui fait la queue normalement et prend ses billets à l'entrée du Dôme... avec ou sans ascenseur puisque cette option est choisie sur place aussi De plus, notre guide ne donnait pas d'information pertinente mais passait son temps à interpeler tous les touristes autour de nous (hors de notre groupe), les invectivant parfois...

Nous avions choisi une visite guidée de la Basilique Saint-Pierre, puis un accès au dôme. Nous avons trouvé sans problème le lieu de rendez-vous, sur la piazza del Risorgimento. Nous étions 7 avec notre guide. Le système audio a très bien fonctionné pendant toute la visite de ĺa Basilique. Cette réservation ne permet pas d'éviter de faire la queue : il nous a fallu 50 minutes avant de passer les portiques de contrôles. Mais notre guide a été plein de ressources pendant cette attente et n'a jamais manqué de sujets intéressants à nous partager. La visite a commencé par les Grottes du Vatican et le tombeau de Saint-Pierre. Ensuite l'époustoufflante harchitecture et les magnifiques œuvres d'art de l'église (de très belles mosaïques en particulier) laissent sans voix. En même temps, on se sent apaisé dans ce décor grandiose. Notre guide a pris le temps de nous expliquer l'histoire de plusieurs œuvres. La visite du dôme s'est faite en autonomie. Malgré l'ascenseur, la montée des 320 marches restantes pour atteindre le sommet est très sportive ! Mais cela en valait la peine! Au retour du dôme, nous avons pu voir le début d'une cérémonie de mariage dans la chapelle réservée a cet usage, comme nous l'avait expliqué notre guide quelques instants au paravant. Très belle visite! Je recommande.

What to bring

A valid photo ID or passport is required for security checks.

Wear comfortable walking shoes—expect stairs and long stretches on foot.

Dress modestly: both men and women must cover shoulders and knees. Sleeveless tops, shorts above the knee, and miniskirts are not allowed.

Bring your own earphones/headphones to use the digital audio guide on your smartphone.

What’s not allowed

Large bags, backpacks, suitcases, and luggage are not permitted inside the Basilica or Dome.

No flash photography, food, drinks, glass items, or smoking on the premises.

Animals are not allowed, except registered service animals.

There is no cloakroom service.

After 6pm, access to the Vatican Grottoes and explanations inside the Basilica are restricted.

Accessibility

This experience is not wheelchair accessible.

The Dome climb involves 551 steep, narrow stairs and confined spaces. It is not suitable for infants, pregnant individuals, or visitors with mobility concerns, heart conditions, vertigo, or claustrophobia.

The elevator only reaches the terrace—an additional 320 steps are required to reach the summit.

Minimum recommended age for the Dome climb is 6; all minors up to 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Additional information

All guests must pass through airport-style security. During peak season, lines may exceed 30 minutes—arrive 15–45 minutes early.

The Dome and roof terrace may close in bad weather.

Entry to St. Peter’s Basilica and the Dome may be suspended without notice due to religious ceremonies or Vatican events. If this happens, suitable alternatives will be arranged.

The special access passage between the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica is closed on Wednesdays and during major events like Easter. In such cases, your guide will take you to the Pinacoteca Gallery instead.

QR codes for entry and audio guide activation are required—check your email (and spam folder) before arrival.

No refunds or date changes are allowed in case of visitor cancellations or closures due to religious events.

All visitors must pass through security checks at the Basilica. Please allow for wait times of up to an hour, as this may extend the overall tour duration.
