During my long weekend in Sydney, my daughter and I had the unforgettable experience of watching the classic opera "Carmen" at the Sydney Opera House. The cast gave a performance of a lifetime, the opera singing was "other worldly" we were uplifted to singing that touched our soul, hearts and mind. Such a colourful, magical and theatrical performance of immense talent which transported us an unforgettable night of entertainment - the venue, organisers and staff at the Sydney Opera House were professional and this added to a seamless experience of a lifetime! Everyone should experience a show in this iconic venue at least once in their lives! Thankyou!

The ticket office Friendly helpful. The bar service, the nice staff , security Every one was so friendly and professional. The Opera Wow wow wow. It was amazing Prefer the standard version The modern look, not sure , too busy and bright. Distracting But the amazing talent I was so drawn in. Subtitles beautifully place and discret. Helps a lot. Easy to read I heard many people say the death seen very violent and confronting. Startled me. The old fashion knife and no blood is good. But loved it Hit me in The heart

I had seen Carmen a few years ago. And I was afraid I was going to be disappointed with this production due to the lack of period costumes. I could not have been further from the reality. I found that the proformanc was more accessible to my modern sensibilities. Being place in the present day made it more relatable. I found it just loved the Sets, the costume and the changes made to the plot. Loved the lighting and the dynamic coulours. The voiced were brilliant I particularly loved the lead male.

Who is Carmen? A smuggler, seductress, risk-taker, rebel. When she meets Don José, their passionate relationship takes center stage in a tale that ends in disaster. Composed by Georges Bizet, one of the most influential figures in the opera scene, Carmen is considered a masterpiece of French opera and has several immensely popular numbers. It is almost impossible not to hum along to Bizet’s tunes such as Habanera, Flower Song and Toreador’s Song as the talented cast sings on stage. Carmen’s music has been acclaimed for its confluence of harmony, melody and orchestration, and Bizet’s ability to represent the suffering of his characters through the opera. This new production, directed by Anne-Louise Sarks, is bold, visceral, and not afraid to ask pressing questions about the infamous femme fatale at its core.

Some evenings just stay with you, and my night at Carmen in the Sydney Opera House was exactly that. From the moment I booked my ticket on Headout to the final bow, everything felt smooth and special. Booking was surprisingly effortless. Headout had a clean layout, instant confirmation, and the mobile ticket worked perfectly. No stress, no queues—just a relaxed start to a big night. Walking up to the Opera House never loses its magic. The sails lit against the harbour already set the mood, and the staff inside made the whole process welcoming and easy. And then came the music. The singer playing Carmen was magnetic—fiery, confident, impossible to look away from. Her chemistry with Don José kept the drama alive, and the orchestra wrapped everything in a wave of emotion. The famous “Habanera” sent chills through the hall, and by the tragic ending, I felt completely drawn in. What struck me most was how human the story felt—bold staging, passionate voices, and music that just lingers. With the ease of booking, the beauty of the venue, and a performance this powerful, it’s a night I’ll always treasure.

Being in the iconic Sydney Opera House was magical! The performers, sets, orchestra and all who played an essential role to execute Carmen were absolutely incredible! It was a night to remember and made our trip to Sydney even better!

Our first visit to the Opera House and it did not disappoint. Absolutely stunning. The whole experience was incredible from the pre drinks at the bar to the final curtain call. Highly recommended.
