Our family loves marine life, and Cairns Aquarium is easily one of the best aquariums we've ever visited. We really enjoyed the shark talk, interactive touch tank and the huge variety of amazing sea life. The displays were well documented and made the whole experience even more interesting. It was very busy when we arrived, so I'd definitely recommend booking online and getting there as early as possible to enjoy the full day. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to return to Cairns for the twilight tour!

The aquarium is well laid out and so interesting. It's incredibly peaceful to sit and watch the fish in the large tanks. The turtle hospital was informative and great to see the turtles up close.

The aquarium experience was great, many beautiful displays and interesting information about all the fish. Entry was a bit rough, despite skipping a majority of the queue with online tickets we still had to wait just as long as the people at the back when we arrived

Loved the aquarium itself, especially the talks which were very informative. However, the system for ticketing was subpar. When you buy your ticket on-line, it is on the assumption you don't have to get in queue, and can directly access a venue. Having to wait in line after purchasing on-line is ridiculous. Other venues are able to circumnavigate the need to line up for a paper ticket with the purchase of an on-line ticket. The aquarium needs to update its ticketing system.

The tour guide was fantastic. The tour was great. We just had a wait a long time for dinner afterwards and ended up eating well after 8pm. The setting for dinner and the food itself was beautiful.

Getting started

Head to the main entrance and show your mobile or printed ticket. Staff will scan your ticket and provide the day’s presentation schedule. Lockers are available for a small fee. The aquarium is fully accessible, with ramps, elevators, and facilities for strollers and wheelchairs.

This is the only aquarium in the world exclusively dedicated to the species and habitats of tropical North Queensland.
