A Cultural Immersion Like no Other
Enter the Mitai Māori area ready for an evening of cultural immersion. You will be welcomed by the friendly inhabitants with an energizing ceremony. Then, see the food that will be eaten later as it is unveiled and set into the hāngī pit to slowly cook.
A majestic sight unfolds as Māori warriors paddle their canoes down the Wai-o-Whiro stream. Painted in dazzling colors and rowing in sync, the display is at once intimidating and satisfying to watch. Next, experience exciting cultural performances as you understand the past and present lives of the people in this area.
Let Nature Guide You
This experience involves a walk in the forest, where you will go through an ancient fortified village and past the Te Puna Tapu o Tuhoe spring - a precious natural resource for the region. Your walk will be brightened by a plethora of glow worms hanging around. Come back to camp and feast on meat, chicken, kumara, and more from the hāngī pit. Travel back with complimentary transportation as you reflect on learnings from your mystical evening.
