Shabu crab is a well-known Japanese dish that is prepared in a hot pot by simmering fresh crab meat in a simmering broth. The broth may be made with a variety of ingredients, including kombu (which is dried kelp) and bonito flakes, amongst others. Vegetables like Napa cabbage, scallions, and mushrooms are often added to the pot during the cooking process.
