Gregory Popovich hails from a family of circus performers. His love for animals and the circus culminated in creating a show that combined the two. From a young age, he learned to form strong bonds with animals and trained them. All the animals that perform on the show were rescued from shelters across the country and have become stars in Sin City. His affection and fondness for animals is very apparent during his act and the way he treats his cuddly co-performers.
Being a fifth-generation circus performer, Popovich has had routines across the world, in Europe, Japan, and America. Before he began the Comedy Pet Theater, Popovich was involved in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and the famous Circus Circus in Las Vegas. Despite Popovich being the central star of the show, the furry cast members easily steal the spotlight.
The Show
The Popovich Comedy Pet Theater involves more than 30 pets, including geese, parrots, goats, cats, and dogs. Mind boggling stunts are performed by these animals, such as cats and dogs walking on tightropes, balancing on a multitude of props, such as metallic balls, jumping through hoops and even using scooters! The animals are involved in several humorous acts and routines, such as dog football, pet fire marshals, patients waiting for the doctor, students in a classroom and many more. Popovich is the ringleader and performs some spectacular juggling acts in his comic attire. The sight of him juggling pins and hoops as he balances on a free-standing ladder is guaranteed to leave you both astonished and in splits!
Several acts are performed by other featured artists, one of whom is Popovich's daughter, Anastasie. Twirling a baton, she dances and leads a group of dachshunds in an adorable routine. The ease with which she directs the animals around is something she seems to have inherited from her father.
