We chose the Louvre for the experience of visiting one of the world's greatest museums. The crowds...what can you do...Paris is popular. The visit was entirely mind-blowing, from the vast open viewing rooms to the exquisite craftsmanship of the halls,, floors and ceilings. However, like the announcements in the metro about pick-pockets, as we were walking up a flight of stairs, my wife was suddenly surprised when she felt someone behind her attempting to fiddle with her handbag. She stopped and turned around. I had no idea why she stopped. As she explained, the couple behind continued walking passed us. And in seconds they were gone. That was a lesson when in busy places: keep your handbag in front of you. Apart from that weird instance, we will visit the Louvre again.
