Our guide stopped the group several times and talked so much we missed most of the gardens of Quinta da Regaleira, and saw none of the gardens at Peña Palace. Which was very disappointing as that is why we booked the tour. He talked a lot about the history of the areas and how to pronounce Portuguese words. Which had nothing to do with the tour we booked.

Built in the 19th century by Luigi Manini, the castle’s architecture is influenced by Manueline, Neo-Gothic and mythological ideas.

The National Palace of Pena is just 3 kilometers from here; head over by bus. This was one of the favorite residences of the royal family throughout the 19th century. Stare in awe at a castle filled with an eclectic blend of architectural styles, including Mudejar, Manueline, Gothic, and Baroque.
