Pro tips to help you make a pick

Visit Madurodam in the winter during the 'Winterweeks' when the park is lit up by more than 50,000 sparking lights, while Santa and several miniature ice-skaters also appear.

Consider buying a combo ticket, as these are discounted tickets and give you access to more than one attraction.

Download the Madurodam app before your visit for a park map, a list of all the miniatures, and a brief description of each.

Swipe the card given to you at the ticket counter at the interactive screens near the miniatures for educational short movies that highlight Dutch history and culture.

Catch the free show about George Maduro near the entrance. Do not skip it or plan to come back after you explore the park as the queues will be longer.

Carry an extra dress as there are chances you might get wet after exploring the WaterRjik zone of the park.

Did you know?

Madurodam is home to a miniature city roughly the size of a football pitch.

The park was built as a memorial to WWII resistance fighter George Maduro by his parents after he died in a concentration camp months before peace was declared. True to this, all the net proceeds from the park, around 700,000 euros, go to various charities for children.

Madurodam has a 3D selfie photo booth called Fantastiron where visitors can have miniature 3D models of themselves made using their photos. The 3D models are printed and shipped to the visitors as well.

All the trees and bushes planted in the park are maintained at no more than 60 centimeters.

Princess Beatrix of the Dutch Royal family was Madurodam's mayor for 28 years until her coronation in 1980.
