A once in a lifetime experience! Would recommend anyone that likes dogs even if it's a little bit to do it. And I believe the 45-60 min range is perfect. For each sled is two people and you'll drive the half of it. The road is beautiful and the team and the guides incredibly friendly. To finish it off you'll get some gingerbread cookies and some warm juice which is delicious! 10/10 day

The husky sled ride was a hit with the whole family. It was a bit cold (-16°C), but the scenery was breathtaking. Being able to mush the dogs yourself is an unforgettable experience. The guides were brilliant from start to finish. A must-do!

  • Few experiences capture the magic of Lapland like husky sledding. Whether you’re looking for a short introduction or a longer self-drive safari, this tour lets you connect with huskies, glide through snowy landscapes, and discover the traditions of Arctic sled dog life.

    Getting started

Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from Rovaniemi City Center or your hotel, depending on your location. Once at the husky farm, you’ll be welcomed by your professional guide and fitted with winter overalls, boots, and gloves. Before heading out, you’ll enjoy a briefing on safety, sled driving, and what to expect during the ride.

    The husky ride

The heart of the experience is the sled ride itself. Depending on the tour you choose, you might enjoy a short introductory 800m ride, a 5km guided safari, or a longer self-driven journey of up to 10km through frozen forests and snowy trails. On self-drive tours, you’ll share a sled with another adult, taking turns as driver and passenger. For those who prefer to sit back and relax, guided rides are also available.

    Meet the huskies

After the ride, you’ll have time to meet the huskies, take photos, and learn more about their lives as sled dogs. Friendly and energetic, the dogs love attention and are eager for cuddles. Your guide will share stories about their training, daily routines, and the long history of huskies in Lapland culture.

    Comfort and refreshments

To keep warm, you’ll be served hot drinks and light snacks, such as biscuits or Fazer chocolate, often inside a cozy kota or around a fire. Small-group sizes ensure a relaxed, personal experience where you can ask questions and take your time with the dogs.

    A tour for everyone

With multiple variants to choose from, short and family-friendly or longer and adventurous, there’s an option to suit every traveler. No matter which you select, everything is taken care of: transfers, winter clothing, guiding, and refreshments are included, so you can simply enjoy your time with the huskies.

  • What to bring

    • Dress warmly in base layers like thermals, fleece, or wool, and wear thick socks, gloves, and a hat. Winter clothing (overalls, boots, gloves) is provided, but your own layers will keep you more comfortable.

    • Bring protective cases for your camera gear and keep it inside your jacket when not in use to prevent battery drain and condensation issues.

    • Sunglasses and lip balm are also useful for snowy, dry conditions.

    What's not allowed

    • For safety reasons, alcohol or joining the tour under the influence is not permitted.

    • Large luggage and bulky bags can’t be brought along due to limited space in transfers and sleds.

    • Smoking is not allowed during activities, inside vehicles, or near the animals.

    Accessibility

    • This tour is not wheelchair accessible, as it involves uneven snowy terrain, boarding sleds, and short walks outdoors.

    • Guests should feel comfortable with light activity in cold conditions.

    • Infant seats are available on request, but very young children (under 2) are not recommended to join sledding tours.

    Additional information

    • Tour durations range from 1.5 hours to 4 hours, depending on the chosen variant (short introductory rides to longer self-drive safaris).

    • Pick-up is provided from Rovaniemi City Center hotels and selected accommodations. A surcharge applies for locations further than 8km, or guests may be asked to meet at the city office.

    • Self-driven rides are shared between two adults, with one driving and the other riding as a passenger; you can switch roles halfway.

    • Guide-driven tours are available for guests who prefer to sit back and enjoy the ride without driving.

    • Children under 140 cm usually ride in the sled with an adult or in a guide-driven sled; very small children will need a parent to accompany them.

    • Safety instructions are given before every self-drive safari, so no prior experience is needed.

    • Experiences operate in all weather conditions, though routes and timings may be adjusted for safety.

    • Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly.
    • Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point.
    • Please check your final voucher for the starting point details & specific instructions.
