Located on the evergreen mountain range in the Mae Tang district of Chiang Mai, Araksa Tea Garden – one of the oldest tea plantations in Thailand – specializes in the production of high-quality Assam tea, procured from a native tree that grows in the area. The landscape around is home to mountainside villages and winding rivers that snake through dense forests, allowing you to experience nature in all its glory. The high altitude and quality of soil and water make the site ideal for tea cultivation. The plantations have remained undisturbed for many years, thereby ensuring high-quality tea that is not exposed to chemical pesticides or fertilizers.
On this tour, you will witness the lush beauty of the surrounding tea garden and learn all about the tea growing process. Join resident tea pickers and watch in awe as the leaves are plucked and processed according to ancient traditions (You will be given a bamboo basket to carry during the tea plucking activity). After experiencing the process first-hand, you will be able to enjoy a cup of tea along with traditional Thai snacks. If you truly want to immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery, you can choose to embark on a picturesque walk through the surrounding green areas, and conclude the experience with a typical Thai lunch.
