Rojo Tango Show

The concierge at Hilton Buenos Aires Puerto Madero suggested I check out this dinner and real-deal Tango show. To be honest, I'm not usually a fan of tango (and I’m hopeless at dancing myself, lol), but watching the performers—actual Argentinians—had me hooked so much my dinner just sat there getting cold. It’s not cheap at all, but honestly, every bit was worth the price. If you’re after a fancy night out with a top-notch meal and a real show, you’ve got to try this.

I picked the dinner and show combo mostly to make sure I'd have a solid seat. Now that I've gone, I think the scary reviews about bad stage views just try to make you spring for dinner. Food-wise, it really wasn't up to the standard for what you pay—probably my least favorite meal in the city. Pick-up was at 7pm and you get there way before you need to since the show kicks off at 9:15. Had too much downtime, but it let me wander around the hotel, which is honestly worth seeing on its own because it's gorgeous. The performance itself was fantastic—the dancers were seriously skilled and the live musicians blew me away. I can't compare to cheaper tango spots, but this one impressed me. Sure, some seats are better, but there aren't really any terrible ones. The stage does sit about a foot above the ground, and performers also dance right next to the bar, so you catch the action from most angles. My tip: just get tickets for the show and have your meal somewhere else. I skipped the return ride, grabbed a drink at the library bar with more live music, and that was a great way to wrap up the night. (Went on a Tuesday, in case that's useful!)

Really enjoyed the show! We thought it was super entertaining and left happy.
