We found it a beautiful and very educational experience. Lots of fishes we would never be able to see in nature, also some birds and mammals (african manatee). We were on Tuesday, spent 6 hours there and there were no crowds, sometimes even we were alone. What we would improve: more space for animals, bigger tanks for fishes etc. Also in cafeteria we would suggest to switch from plastic into ceramic cups and plates - you know "reduce,reuse,recycle" the amount of plastic. And maybe more supervision over some kids who were kicking the glas of the tanks disturbing the fishes. Everything including toilets was clean and well maintained.

Very nice experience overall. There are many different kinds of fishes and corals, all divided into thematic sections like Red Sea, Atlantic, Antarctic, and so on. There are not only marine life but also birds, terrarium and monkeys. Everywhere there are touchscreens with explanations for each species. It’s truly wonderful, and I learned a lot. I could easily spend a whale day there. Special walk with Daniel in the section "beyond the glass " was incredible. He kindly explained to us how the Aquarium works and how much care they take to preserve marine life. It was very interesting. For me, it was the best attraction in Abu Dhabi.

There are no busy crowd although it is a school holiday, we basically got the palce to ourselves. From the reception to the cleaner staff, they all smiling and welcoming. I recommended the tour behind the glass experience as you can see behind the curtain, worked they did to save the rescued animal plus at the end of the tour, we got to feed the fish in the big tank. My kids were thrilled with the presentation at the big tank (2.30pm daily) and also the otters (2pm daily) and appreciated the efforts done to make the Aquarium experience more fun. Overall, recommended for all and it were so informative.

The place is amazing. Fish species I have never seen in any other aquarium. The best part: "Beyond the glass experience", a tour to know how the aquarium works, the "hospital" and learn the program the aquarium develops. 10/10.

This aquarium is wonderful. They take great care of the fish, the water is very clean, and there are many species of marine fauna, including freshwater. A must-see.

Wheelchairs are provided free of charge as long as a valid ID is shown at the counter.

No children under the age of 12 will be admitted to the National Aquarium unless they are accompanied by an adult aged 16 or above.

A free guide service allows visitors to obtain the information for each exhibit directly on their mobile phones in 6 languages: Arabic, English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi & Russian.

Getting There

By bus

The closest bus stop is Khaleej Al Arabi St / Bus Interchange. It is a quick 4-minute walk to the attraction.

Board buses #21, #22, #101, and more to get you there.

It takes less than 30 minutes to reach Al Qana from Downtown Abu Dhabi. If you’re coming by bus, take route #56 which passes through the Al Maqta region.
