I had a really fun time making jeans and totally recommend getting the authentic selvedge denim if you can. One thing to watch out for—if you’re from the US, sometimes they’re out of the bigger sizes, so keep that in mind! I did end up spending more than I planned since a bunch of the cool features cost extra, so the price you pay at the end is definitely higher than what’s upfront. Mine came out to about $250 because I upgraded everything, but honestly, the quality is so good I’d do it again. Since I live in Japan, I’m already thinking about going back for another embroidery session, the denim and crew here are easily the best I’ve come across.

Really fun activity! If you're after true selvedge denim, I'd definitely suggest it, though just a heads up for Americans—sometimes the popular sizes are gone fast! Costs add up too, since they charge extra for things like embroidery or special details, so the starting price isn’t the final bill. My total was around $250 with all the upgrades. Expensive, but honestly worth it. I live in Japan now, and I’ll probably go back for more custom embroidery since this is some of the best denim and friendliest folks I’ve found in the scene.

The store's denim is seriously impressive—if you like selvedge, you should ask for it, though do know that American sizes tend to sell out at times. The pricing isn’t super clear since there are extra fees for lots of the custom stuff, so count on paying more than you’d guess at first. My total came to about $250 after picking all the upgrades. It’s pricey but honestly, I think it was worth it. Living in Japan, I’ll probably be back for more, since the quality’s some of the best I’ve seen and the folks working here were great.

Visiting Daruma Jeans was such a fun part of our Japan trip, and Ebony just made it even better! She was always there to answer questions and made sure we felt comfortable while we customized our jeans. It felt really welcoming and I’ll remember her kindness for a long time. The jeans are such a cool keepsake from Tokyo—definitely something different to bring home. Totally suggest giving this a try if you’re here. Thanks again for all your help, Ebony!

Cool spot if you want to do something hands-on in Harajuku. Picked out my denim, chose a fun patch, and learned some stuff about Japanese street style. Staff made it easy even if you don’t speak Japanese. Jeans came out great, but you’ll notice the price if you want extra custom details. Worth it for the quality though!
