The Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden is one of the oldest zoological gardens in the world with almost 150 years of history behind it. Barely having survived both World Wars, it was rebuilt and restored to its former status as well as pioneering unique ambitious projects.
As you visit this historic zoo to see the unique collections of animals and flora, be sure to soak up the distinctive and rich architecture of this Budapest landmark. Many of the animal houses have their original designs. Explore the different zones and programs that the zoo has to offer. Magical Hill – one of the newer attractions of the Zoo – presents diverse flora and fauna through 4 floors and 16 showrooms. You can find the screening of 3D documentaries and cartoons and the very exciting ‘Animals in Action’ live performance here.
Other zones include the Savannah Zone, India Zone, Madagascar Zone, Reptile House, and more where you’ll see animals from all over the world – lions, tigers, elephants, lemurs, snakes, lizards, apes and monkeys, zebras, and one-of-a-kind marine life. Daily programs include Shark Dive Feeding, Bat Feeding, Little Creatures in Action, and a guided Zoo walk. However, please check these programs beforehand because they’re subject to change.
