Begin your visit at the main entrance on Praça do Império, where your ticket is validated before entry. After a brief security check, you’re free to wander the monastery’s historic halls and cloisters independently.

The church is a part of Jerónimos Monastery and offers free entry, but you must join a separate line to enter.

The monastery is a crowd-puller, and wait times can stretch to 2 hours during peak hours. Plan smart: arrive early and book tickets online in advance.

To avoid the rush hour madness, we recommend the guided tour with 9:30am priority access.

Entry is free for Portugal residents on Sundays and public holidays, which often leads to larger crowds. If possible, plan your visit on another day.

The Jerónimos Monastery remains closed on Monday, 1st January, Easter Sunday, 1st May, and 25th December.
