Efter att ha besökt Pompeji några dagar tidigare bestämde vi oss för att klara oss utan guide den här gången och bara utforska Herculaneum själva. Det var så mycket lugnare än Pompeji och byggnadernas fullständighet är fantastisk. Man kan verkligen se vilken vacker plats det skulle ha varit att leva på. Vi njöt verkligen av vårt besök här. Förbokningen av biljetten innebar att vi bara promenerade rakt in, vilket var fantastiskt.

Dessa biljetter var en dröm. Jag köpte dem online kvällen innan, och biljetterna gav oss rätt att gå in i Herculaneum när som helst under dagen. Vi anlände runt 11.30 och vi gick rakt igenom, utan köer eller väntan. Jag älskade Herculaneum, det är så välbevarat och är mycket mindre än Pompeji så det är inte lika överväldigande. Det ligger längst ner på en kulle så var medveten om du behöver komma tillbaka till tågstationen för en bestämd tid, det är en ganska promenad!

Det var en otroligt vacker dag. Inträdet var okomplicerat och snabbt. Det finns flera toaletter och det lilla museet är fantastiskt.

Herculaneum är en plats som gör intryck och stimulerar fantasin. För inte så länge sedan låg alla dessa byggnader flera meter under jorden. Idag låter de oss med egna ögon se hur denna antika stad verkligen såg ut. De flesta av de byggnader som presenteras här har bevarats i så gott skick att när man går på gatorna i Herculaneum kan man känna att man befinner sig i en riktig stad där livet fortfarande pågår. Jag kommer att minnas min tid i Herculaneum under en mycket lång tid framöver. Genom att köpa biljetter via Headout fick man direkt inträde till den arkeologiska parken.

Den bästa sightseeingen med fenomenala inblickar i de gamla romarnas liv. Gömd under flera meter vulkanisk aska och lava grävdes Hercaluneum ut. Det var ännu närmare vulkanutbrottet som uppslukade Pompeji. Här får man komma närmare utgrävningen och platsen är inte särskilt omfattande. Ändå är freskerna och mosaikerna vackrare än i Pompeji. Ändå är ett besök i Pompeji också mycket intressant. Kostnaden är ca 14 euro för vuxna.
