Gain admission to the Museum of Prohibited Art, home to the world’s inaugural and exclusive collection of censored and prohibited artworks. With over 200+ pieces, utilize the interactive digital guide (remember your headphones) for deeper insights into the background and consequences of these banned creations. Numerous artworks tackle religious themes. For instance, Jani Leinonen's 'McJesus' portrays Ronald McDonald crucified, withdrawn from an Israeli museum. Zoulikha Bouabdellah's work featured 30 Muslim prayer mats adorned with sequined stilettos, pulled from a French exhibition in 2015 due to complaints.
Art beyond boundaries
Marvel at the work "Caprichos" by artist Francisco Goya, which led to Goya being interrogated by the Inquisition due to its content. See the controversial artwork titled "The Statue of a Girl in Peace" by the Korean artist couple Kim Eun-Sung and Kim Seo-Kyung. This piece triggered self-censorship at Japan's Aichi Triennale, facing public threats and diplomatic tensions with South Korea.
